If it's an O4 CV8 then they are H3 bulbs and you have to remove the number plate, then 4 x screws on the valance insert. This then pops out, abit of a pain but it's hooked in at 4 places on the top and slotted in at the bottom, but it flexes well.

If you are just changing the glass then remove the ring with the small phillips screw. If you are changing the whole lot including the bracket then there are 3 x M6 nuts on the back of each.

I just replaced mine and got the whole lot including brackets new from ebay.au for $237. Both where rusted to ***k and the studs broke off the brackets too as they where rusted on.

Please excuse me for the hijack, but I assume you are talking about the front fogs?

If so, then could someone please tell me what bulb I will need for the rear?

I can just see the conversation at Halfords. "Hi I need a rear fog light bulb for a Vauxhall Monaro", Certainly sir, a Meriva", "no......a Monaro", "huh.....what's a Monara?", "that's a Mona-RO!"

Can I even go to Halfords? or do I have to go to Vauxhall? I'm a complete Monaro noob. Only had mine a week.

There seems to be two types of people, those who know exactly what a Monaro is and love em, or those who have no idea what car you're on about. The reaction from the latter when you say it's a 5.7 litre V8 is always the same. "Fcensoredg Hell!, you found out how to make your own petrol?" ha ha

Mines an 05/06 CV8 by the way.

can i add to this please ? having stupidly reversed into something today, i've now got a buggered up fog light as this took the full force of the 1/2 mph impact!! I suppose paintwork damage etc could be worse... anyway the red lense thing is now at an angle in it's housing in the bumper, the light doesn't work and the small ring surrounding the whole thing popped out of the bumper (undamaged tho).. any ideas how i get to the back of this to see what has happened (feeling under the bumper, there is an undertray or something directly underneath which stops me getting to back of bumper)
mine is an 05 vxr...

That's odd, I managed to get mine out with very little effort, but then again, my fog light is a little loose. Once I was able to pop the two clips at the top off, the whole black unit (shown in my post above) pulled forward. The housing then twists and pops off. This leaves the wire with bulb housing in one hand, and the black pastic part housing the red plastic light in the other. The bulb then also twists and pulls out.

It turns out in the end that the bulb was fine. The contacts in the housing and on the bulb were all rusty. I cleaned everything up and re-fitted and it worked like a charm.

I'll put some pics up on how it comes apart later this morning.

Edit: Oh hang on, you have a vxr. It'll probably be completely different, sorry.

Ok, hope this helps.

Here is the first pic of the fog light on the rear bumper. As you can see, it's already a little loose. Must have had a knock.

If you can get your hand behind (I could easily) push in the tabs and the light will become free and you can pull it forward and out of the bumper. The tabs holding it in place can be seen on the pic below.

Hold the translucent section and twist the whole black plastic section anti clockwise to unlock and pull it off as shown

The bulb then also twists anti clockwise and pulls out showing the terminals below. I could see that the filament on the bulb was intact, so I knew it was either the electrics, or the really rusty terminals.

Here's a closeup of the bulb.

Re-asemble the unit and then carefully push back into place pushing the tabs in to lock it into place.

anyone know where I can get the rear fog light assembly for an 05 VXR ?

mine is totally wrecked so I need the whole unit replacing and Vauxhall have quoted £365 to do this... (parts and labour)

having said that, after spending a lot of time yesterday trying to get the broken bits removed from the car, I can't see that you can fit the fog lamp on this model without removing the bumper..so perhaps most of this labour ?!

can anyone tellme if this is correct or (the bumper removal part) and also where on earth can I get this fog lamp assembly from ?

The fog light has been subject to a redesign and is now only available with a combined loom for the parking sensors. Its about £270ish i think (fairly certain on this scratchchin)for the parts. Hour or so to pull off the bumper and refit. Either they are a little slow or have high labour rate, but not that far off.
