Excellent end result, out of curiosity how much does the paint correction stuff cost, i.e getting rid of the swirl marks and minor scratches in the paintwork?

It'll vary a bit depending who you use and the state of the car. Plus there's how much correction you want and whether they also detail the interior, the engine bay etc. Provided you don't incur extra travel costs about £250-300 a day covers most of the chaps. Expect to pay a bit more for high-end waxes/products if that's what you want. My car would have been a solid 2 days work for one of them.

Would you recommend having it done, how long do you get the benefits of the work?

I'd recommend it as I feel any car will show improvement with a proper clean and polish/wax. If you'll excuse the pun, I'll 'come clean' and say I already frequent Detailing World and have developed a taste for cleaning cars and buying equipment to clean cars.

Machine polishing will do work that cannot be achieved by hand. It gives a smooth shiny finish and removes all those tiny scratches (and some larger ones) that you see when direct sun hits the car.

Having got a nice finish they applied a good quality wax. I expect the wax to hold good for a few months, but it's not one I've used before (it's a new product).

The wax will need re-applying in time, as I've said. The great finish will last until spoilt by careless washing, pedestrians, bird lime etc. Washing and drying can be done in a way to inflict minimal damage. That's what I try to do.

I don't expect to machine polish the car with anything abrasive for at least 12 months now. Hope this helps.

I'd love mine to look like that! I read something else recently about some work done on a different car, and apparently the top guys at this game can't even be booked, not for love nor money - they'll only do your car if they want to! Reckon on up to a grand if you want expensive waxes, etc, as mentioned above.
