I was sweeping of a roundabout earlier into a left hander, as i put my foot down, not quite in a straight line i heard a sort of rumble/clanking, metallic sound. I think it came from the R/H/S. Didnt feel anything and couldnt get it to go again. Anyone experianced anything like this? Any thoughts welcome.

Assuming you were in your Monaro I`d go for diff, have a chat with Rodger from Monkfish its a quick and easy fix.

If however you were at work in the company vehicle I`d say that one or more of the rotating brushes may need attention hehe

IF it`s the diff a little bit of molyslip oil`ll do it.

Main expense will be the gas for the drive to get a professional opinion.

Could be the top bearing in the front suspension, I had a similar thing on my HSV at low speeds and it turned out to be the bearing. Don't think they are too expensive to change but you do have to take the strut off to replace it.

Have similar problem in my 05 CV8 (last two days, maybe longer - stereo normally too loud to hear it). Definitely when steering and in low speeds. Intermittent. Difficult to reproduce to demonstrate.
Just pushing 43k miles.

I had the AA man driving round Oxford services for an hour trying to reproduce it! If it is the Diff, then it will only make the sound once after it has locked up as it is the breaking free (turning) that makes the noise. generally off motorway sliproads/islands etc..
I equate it to the sound of a prop shaft slapping the bottom of your car. quite alarming to the uninitiated, however relatively harmless noise and easy to fix.

Will also sometimes translate through to the gearbox/engine giving the impression of clutch judder.

I suffered a brief period of what sounded like a front suspension knocking noise. Happened only half a dozen times or so over a few weeks when the car was a few months old. Just manoeuvring at low speed. Did sound like a driver's side strut problem. Could not see anything with the car jacked up. I tend to keep everything I can get at well watered with WD40 so maybe this helped.

Same here, low speed drivers side front clank. (VXR8) Only happened four or five times though.
Not sure about the WD40 mullarky, sure someone posted something not too positive about that stuff recently.

WD40 is great when used for it it's supposed to be. It's not a lubricant in any shape or form and will act as adegreaser causing any conventional grease to loose integrity and fail. If you want to lubricate stuff then use something better - chain lube for bike is good as this doesn't affect grease and doesn't cause wear and tear due to the lubricant picking up dirt and debris and rubbing against the materials.

Incidentially I've noticed this too at low speed (VXR8) - usually when getting into or out of a parking space. Only happened a few times but very strange.

Be careful WD40 can destroy rubber seals (used to use it on the trials bikes but use Duck oil now)

If its any help, about this time last year I had the first customer ride in the VXR8 at Picadors launch day. (was the only one there) During the drive the demonstrator (think it was DE51RED) had the same knock, quite loud and expensive sounding.

So its a known problem and has already been fixed at Green`s.

that sounds about right, it hasnt done it since though, Will ring Monkfish this week to book in. I took a mate out for a play on Sat and pulled away hard and the rear right spun up and left rubber but the left didnt. I do think there is a ptoblem.
