I have been without my Monaro VXR since December 27th 2007 - Its been kept at a dealer as it went in for a warranty repair (the rear screen was leaking and filling the boot) The screen has been replaced but once of the roof strips
was broken either removing it or replacing it.

Vauxhalls have been 'trying' to source a replacement since then and have retained my car since then. I have obviously phoned and moaned my a**e off since but have only got 'computer says no...' girl at the other end saying 'we are doing everything we can to recitify your problem sir.. . ' apparenty the part was manufactured in Aus and the company that made them had 'gone bust' !? is this a General Motors thing??

Now.. has anyone else had this problem or getting this problem or am I the only one getting his chain yanked??

or does anyone know where you can source Monaro components in the UK or from Australia?

Thanks. Rant over.

I have had 2 roof rails on order since Sep 2007 and still waitting for them and a few other things like a high level brake light with im told the company in OZ that makes them have gone bust.
I think this is a normal blag from Vauxhall.

No way!? That does not bode well. So you have been waiting over SEVEN months for those roof strips?

What a bunch of a**eholes. I knew I took a risk switching from a Jap car to GM and now thoroughly regret
buying the monaro (as fun to drive as it is - when you can).

Everytime I ask 'when' these parts will be in they say its the next month onwards..

I think its time to get a solicitor involved.

Im waiting on a whole new gearbox!(under warranty) told six weeks ago that it would be in middle of March yet spoke to dealership last week and no firm answer...

Spoke to MD of dealership this afternoon and have said if not sorted, replacement VXR/VXR8 will be required indefinately till they sort it. They have sorted me a Vectra VXR up until now but if I wanted a Vectra I would have bought one!.

[Raggy] Thanks for the offer Raggyman, can you give me some contact details of your Holden dealer?

[Phantom] Sorry about the Gearbox man, that sucks a phat one. What really annoys me is how they really don't seem to care very much at all. I have a dealer 'pool' car at the moment, astra club 'sigh' they offered me a Vectra VXR too but said I had to come to them (84 mile round trip) and get insurance for it (you can generally only get temp cover for two weeks or you have to buy a whole policy and then cash it in - at a loss - after you've finished with) so I told them I wasnt interested unless they can deliver the car to me which they refused to do.. .

Thanks for all the feedback though, it gives me some more ammunition to hit them with at Luton HQ.

Not really the dealers at fault - Vauxhall do not seem to have any spares in stock. Took me something like 6 weeks to get power steering pipes ffs.

They need to sort it out IMO.

When I first got the car I was disappointed at the behaviour from Vauxhall for what is supposed to be their Premium brand.

Hmm, that'll go a long way towards explaining why I've had no update on the three outstanding warranty items I'm awaiting. Haven't even called them to let them know about the other 2 which have arisen since. At least I still have the car and it's still running.

If you multiply the lack of spares availability by the failure of Vauxhall to be concerned about it and factor in an apparent 100% dealer apathy factor*, it's not a pretty picture.

(* for apathy, read "couldn't give a f**k" )

Like Raggyman, No problem picking up hard to get stuff down here for up there if required as long as it is not bulky.
The roof strip shouldn't be too hard to find, I wouldn't reckon.

Heres the Holden dealer in OZ where i have got a few parts from, I might give them a call and see if the parts im waitting for are in stock.
Heres a quick scan of a invoice i got from them.
Hope it helps in some way.

guys, I use this mob alot... www.justcommodorespares.com.au/jcs/index.php?main_page=index ...allways willing to help and offer advice. they do new and used stuff and if your nice they'll help out with the vat and duty.......

I know it should all be covered under warranty but is it worth the heartache and stress? get the parts you need and get someone you trust to carry out the work....then you can allways send the bill on to vauxhall along with a friendly letter from your solicitor stating 'incompetence' and 'undue levels of stress caused by delayed action on behalf of the dealer".

just a thought.

I was giving serious consideration to purchasing a Monaro but having read these posts I think I will have to consider other cars. It is very worrying that Vauxhall cannot supply spares for a car that they were selling new only a year or so ago.

We're taking a look at this. Seems some trim parts for Monaro have massive back order times both here and Oz and no reason given. I'm discussing direct with Holden to resolve.

I can understand everyones concerns here about spares or buying a Monaro. The massive back order situation is so totally out of order for Vauxhall\GM\Holden - these companies are big enough to rectify such issues should they arise - they shouldn't have to take SEVEN MONTHS to find alternative manufacture, I think its incredible incompetence or just complete lack of care, as the Monaro is end of line they just can't be arsed.. . Well dont expect me to be buying another Vauxhall...

I am seeking legal advice at the moment and taking this further, I'll post (if) any response I get.

My local garage (Sherwoods Darlington - Excellent place) are still waiting to hear back from Vauxhall if they can do a warranty job of repainting my door handles (as the paint has flaked off). Surely this can't be a delay in the parts!!!! LOL.

No, no, that's quote normal - it's the built-in delay in any part of the Vauxhall monolith giving a toss.

Very sad really.
When I had problems with my first 'ro, I had great service/help from Vauxhall. Reading the recent problems it is a shame that these cars are not being supported as they deserve to be.

They are aware of this common fault, shouldn't be any delay whatsoever.

the issue being it requires a "monaro" expert to travel from Luton to inspect it (so I've been told). I mean how the fk a local tech cannot diagnose big fk off flakes of paint missing is beyond me. Eventually they will now accept photos I believe but its a ball ache to drive to the nearest monaro dealer. Surely on door handles my local VX dealer should be able to help?

Does this mean that VX won't even take the frigging dealers word for it.They know the paint flakes off !!!!
