Yeah I waited it out as long as I could. In the end I had to buy now frown
Still I plan to exceed the new 6.2L output by a large margin in any case.

It is good that the model is likely to continue but obviously another 200cc isn't very much. It looks to me that the VXR8 does fail to live up to expectation a little, all this talk of Vauxhall's M5 beater etc. I would prefer Vauxhall to split the model as they did with the original Monaro. Offer a "cooking" one and a more powerful VXR with an LS7 or supercharger as standard. Then those who want the "bling" and "track day" baggage have what they want more straight off. For me the ordinary Commodore looks much more attractive. I much prefer an anonymous large saloon which is fast enough in a straight line, makes a nice noise and has sensible long-term costs.

Makes me wonder about the practicalities and economics of personnel importation. Certainly buying the proper UK model went somewhat wrong for me with the Monaro. A key specification improvement I wanted didn't happen for the UK car and in spite of my best efforts I could find out in advance. If I had bought an Oz one it would have been correct. My standard UK warrantee also proved to be pretty worthless.
