Hi

A silly question I know but can anyone tell me either

where the rear fog lights are likely to be on a 2000 HSV GTS (one of the official 31 imports)
or, more importantly, how the hell to turn them on.

Both reversing lights work and show white, so it isn't there. Would it be the LED in the boot? That only comes on with the brakes at the moment.

There are 2 switches in the car - one under the headlight switch (front fogs?) and one to the left of the steering wheel (rear fogs)

Is there some combination of these that turns the fogs on?

Have tried with fronts on and off and no joy. It's all a bit fraught since I have an MOT pending on this!

Thanks

Phil

its the small strip of LEDs at the bottom edge of the boot lid. Mine stopped working a long time ago. I have now used one of the original light fittings in the large reflector strip that goes across the boot lid. if you take this assembly off you can see where you can fit a "replacement" fog light. I used the original wiring and then spliced in a 20w bulb using the available fitting. Looks cool and has gone through a few MOTs with no problem. A lot easier than trying to replace the defective LED strip.

I'll check tomorrow. Now that you mention it I do recall seeing a red LED or 2 along the back bumper/boot lid at one point. It wasn't exactly a shining beacon of light though so that may account for why no-one has spotted it.

The fog lights were retro fitted. On the VT cars there should be an upturned version of the front fog light switch. Depending on how it was installed it may work even when the ignition is off. The lamp is a ute high level brake light, these tend to fill with water and the LED's will slowly fail over time. On my VX one of the original lamp holders has been converted to a fog light, this is a much better solution.

I wouldn't even bother replacing strip light I did once on my VT11 when I had it and went within 6mnths, I found best was to change one of reverse lights to fog light easy to do and more cost effective.
