Hi,

Just found the rear vxr8 passenger carpet (drivers side) quite wet (soaked is a better description) and i need to get decent access to and under it.

Can get the trim panel off near the rear door which I can get under it a bit but could do with a bit more. Ideally I'd like to peel it back from the rear seats forward.

Does anybody know how to get the rear seat bottom off (as it looks like the carpet tucks under there).

Is this a design fault or "user error"?

No idea. can't think of anything that could have been in the back but the seals look ok.

Its definately water but no sign of entry.

Could probably take it back under warranty but I'd be without a car for days and it's an 1 hour drive to dealer by car and 3 hours back by public transport

I had the same problem with my VXR8 back in January. Actually got a pool of water in the rear offside footwell. If it is anything like mine you will have water ingress in the front as well but because the front footwell is a double skin construction the carpet does not get wet. The dealer - Lookers Birmingham - had my car for two weeks to sort it out. Managed to blagg a copy of the 17 page "Technical Information Bulletin" that Vauxhall have put out on this.. Seems that all cars built up to Sept 2007 are potentially prone to water leaks in the front bulkhead area due to poor sealing. My problem seemed to be road spray getting in through the front wheelarch/lower bulkhead area. Dealer reckons to have stripped the interior out completely and replaced the carpets - mildew growing on the old ones! If correct then, given the parts situation with these cars, the fact that Vauxhall actually had carpets in stock would indicate that they are expecting problems. Enjoy the Corsa loan car!

Well, Ive not noticed anything wet, but Ill check now.

However my centre console intermittently dies, that means no stereo, but worse, no aircond, or front windscreen demister etc. Its flicked on and off a few times, so its probably a dodgy connection or wiring.
God knows whats going to happen when I take it in. Its only happened 2x in 1000 miles.

Same here but water def got in through the front.Presumably the prop shaft tunnel stops it migrating to the nearside.
Interested to hear how you go on.
