Does anyone know if you can buy the connectors from anywhere?
Or some short looms I can cut the ends off...

I'm looking to wire-up a couple of widebands replacing the stock sensors, but want to be able to swap back easily and without cuting into the loom.

Has anyone else done this?

Cheers

Hi, I did this. I got some spare connectors of my local garage.

I chopped off the connector 100mm from the old NB sensors, attached new connector to the end of that and fitted matching connectors to the new wide band and old NB sensors, to make them interchangable like you said.

Smiler.

Thanks,

Making an adapter with local available connectors may be the way for now.

Cheers

how many do you want as I have soem spare metripack plugs and pins I never got around to using. My minimum spend to get them was 25 quid from a uk distributor and I'd like to keep 2 spare (in case I re use my wideband) I think I could safely spare you 2 plugs and sets of pins (I think I know where they are in the loft!) for a tenner

Unfortunately Stig's connectors are the early flat connectors and mine are the later grey square ones.
Does anyone know the part numbers for these. I've search all through the metripack catalogues and can't find them.
Otherwise i'm looking into buying a couple of header extension cables from the states and cutting them up.

Thanks

for the price of going via the states for the extender looms Monkfish tend to carry them.

I considered this briefly, but found that:
a) the NB emulation performed by the WB is not going to be an exact match to your OEM NB's
b) it's easy to weld in a couple of additional bungs 4" in front of your current NB's so you can fit and remove your WB's as required without affecting existing NB feeds to the PCM

As gelf has found there is issues on the newer ECM's if powering the WB's from the nb loom. Luckily on the older ls1 cars the ECU didn't cut the power to the nb circuit, the recommndations for earthing has recently changed also. May be worth having a chat with him.

I'm going to try it out at least. I'd rather not cut bung holes in my coated headers or mids unless there's no option. Would probably run power from the dash supply so shouldn't have any ECM power issues.
The output of the simulated NB should be good enough, not that it'll be running closed loop much when tuning on the WB's.

Appreciate all the feedback
Gelf, may drop you a mail.

I think the suggestion is just use the WB in place of a full time NB and use the wb simulation.

I found it a PITA though so went back to dedicated narrow bands and loom extenders! You might be better off using the power from the cigarette lighter as its a lot easier to get to

I didnt have any issues taking power off the NB wiring in the LS1. LC1 earths should go to the engine though.
Signal isnt the same its more zigzag than sine wave, other than that it switches the same and overlays the NB signal so I would use it without concern.

Personally if you are tuning you really want it in open loop anyway, then pop the NB's back in when you are done if you want to go back to closed loop or semi open loop (ie STFT only) Or if you arnt sure you have finished tuning yet smile then just run off the NB sim from the WB.

Going forward I think a wire from the fusebox/cig lighter socket makes sense.
