Anyone recently fitted a clutch? shopping around as a just in case ;-)

car is a 5.7 ls1 HSV vt2

what sort of prices for supply only for the kit?

worth changing the slave cylinder as well at teh same time?

whilst i'm running a charger the way i drive i think a standard clutch will suffice. Alternatively if there is a drivable (ie not a race clutch on/off velcro action!) available can anyone advise?

ls7 clutch will bolt up to the ls1 with the correct flywheel. good for 500hp+ and feels like stock according to folk that have installed them. threads discussing this option aplenty on the US and OZ forums.

Good price Roger smile

Yes I had I think one of the first ones, if not the first. Feels totally stock. Ive not heard a bad word for anyone on them.

Also depending on how old your old slave is it might be worth replacing. I replaced mine at the time as its a pain to get to. I dont think they cost much more.

I think you need an LS2 or LS7 flywheel actually.

The price for the clutch includes a new LS7 flywheel. You have to use this. The LS1/2 flywheel doesn't work with the LS7 clutch.

Wish they were made of gold, but no. There are some cheapy repros about in the states, but i have never tried them myself. Given that you have to take the box out to change them, i'll stick with the OE ones.

You need a clutch, not new hydrualics. LS7 is good, certainly at your power level.

I bought one of the cheap ones the other day. From what I can tell, the only difference might be the actual quadrant seal itself. But as I cant see it without removing it....
The Aluminium body itself, is the same AP unit.

At circa £60....cant complain ( including postage ), although I only needed one plastic part from the slave, as it cant be bought separately.

But Id also be of the thought...if it aint broke, dont fix it with your current slave cylinder, unless it is very high mileage or quite a few years old.
