Could any one of our well known tuners give me an idea of costs to upgrade my '05 CV8 with LS112 SC from 6 to 9 psi and remap accordingly? Is it poss to remap favouring increased low end torque rather than maxing bhp? - big bhp is good but more torque is more fun

i thought torq and bhp went hand in hand on these cars

hp and torque are mathematically related of course.
Basically a good tune is tuned to optimise torque at ALL load points.
Really the only way to do this is during an extended period on the dyno.
Fueling will also alter torque as will intake and exhaust, cam, heads etc...

Speak to Mark at Rapid. You will need a new pulley and a remap which he can do on his rolling road, should be < £500 I would have thought. You might also need a bigger fuel pump and an intercooler if you don't already have one?

Water injection has to help here, maybe lessen the boost but increase density and temps.

Thanks for the quick responses. Yes the car is intercooled and, I think, currently running 6psi.
I'm after the "Porsche/M5/other Wayne Kerrs disappearing in the rear view mirror" effect, which at (semi)legal speeds, higher torque is more relevant than higher bhp.

I believe this also results in "the painful grinning muscles syndrome" bandit

If you have a 112 blower you`ll get about 40-50 more rwtorques from a 9psi upgrade.
Think either Alan, Jamiep or wormus would be better placed to advise on the power improvement over 6psi.
(although having said that I think Jamie went straight for 9psi)
And I know Alan (AM04ARO) has dyno results as he did the last HSV Dyno Day.

Wortec offerings were/are
Ls1 supercharger package was inclusive of intercooler.
Ls2 only was it optional (VXR500 was non intercooled) due I believe to better cooling.
Don`t know what Rapid and the others were offering but I`d hazzard a guess that if it didn`t need an intercooler Wortec wouldn`t have included it to keep the cost down and move more units.

That Monkfish demo car is nicely run in and a real monster, I`m not surprised you couldn`t tell much difference.

Thanks, will be very interested to see those numbers. Mark has contacted me regarding the upgrade and a mafless remapping, he also said he has heard that the Harrop SC, when pushed to 9 - 12psi can have probs with bearings, wondering if anybody here with LS112 @ 9 or greater psi has had any probs?

Mine's a Magnacharger running 9psi and it has 585lbs torque. TBH, the biggest problem is putting it all on the road. Good tyres do help but there's no getting away from physics & I still think a 450bhp 911 Turbo would piss all over mine because it's lighter and has much wider rubber.

This is what you want: http://videos.streetfire.net/video/95 (excuse the crap death metal music)

Yours is indeed a monster and still my second favorite Monaro.
What was the change in perf over the 6psi setup I think is the info that`s wanted.

The only person I know of who has had bearing troubles on their blower was me....... but its a 122 not a 112 and was during the 1000 mile run in that Monkfish wanted on a new blower prior to upping to 12psi.

Just a faulty bearing.

Monkfish,Wortec and Harrop were superb and it was a real non event.

I expect that`s what Mark would have heard on the jungle drums
