Must serve a purpose I suppose.

Any drawbacks to removing and how easy (or difficult) is it to do so (05MY monaro)?

Mine has been in the attic for nearly a year now.....
I hate plastic engine covers but it seems to be the way with most modern cars nowadays to cover up the business end of the car.
I've been told by Roger @ Monkfish that it doesn't do anything and he removed it for me when I had my Sport Pac done.
There are only a few nuts to remove anyway, so I'm sure you can do it yourself easily enough.

I like to see whats going on (cables, connectors, plugs and so on) so took it off just after I got it.

Easy peasy and it is only 4 screws.

The ls6 vette covers are much nicer if you don't mind having Corvette emblazoned on them.

Its like the modern footballer. Its basically a homosexual item, like makeup etc.
Wear it as you will smile

Does it help stop heat buildup to any degree by removing it?

Yes.

It stops children burning their hands on hot things, thats about it.

TTT for anyone who knows if the cover affects engine temp (even if only in a miniscule way).

Yes it traps heat, bin it.
Or at least store it for another day.
I like to see the engine as well. Not some plastic piece of rubbish.

I edited my post due to dyslexia and typo's

Monkfish sell the twin covers which look a lot better, bit pricey for just cosmetics though.

I would suggest ebay, but I got out-bid on the last set so don't want anymore competition..

I like to see whats there, so I can check for leaks, disconnected injectors, sensors etc.
Mind you probably more likely to snag the connector off in the first place without it there smile
