Speculation on water in cylinder
Discussion
How much water?
Once had a head gasket blow between an oil and water way into a cylinder.
Result from this was no power lots of oily steam coming out the exhaust (looked like a James Bond style smoke screan coming out the back of the car
) but no actual damage when the engine was stripped down, just a replaced head gasket and away it went.

Its not as if other people haven't had this problem before.
How many people when Reading the post saying the engine had failed (Esp. The one with the water detail) thought "I wonder what caused that?" followed by "hmmm - x might have had something to do with it"
I find it quite weird that all this info can be posted about this (frankly incredibile) build but now something has failed people are saying we shouldn't discuss it.

I'm not saying it shouldn't be discussed, hopefully when the cause is known it will be posted and we may all learn from it. I just think it's pointless guessing about an engine which nobody has seen. The coolant might have absolutely nothing to do with the failure, so guessing as to which of the many possible ways it got there (including via the hole punched through the block) is ridiculous.
The discussion at present is pointless. We dont know what went wrong, so how can we even speculate as to a cause ??
We have talk of water, and a hole in some structural parts. As I say, maybe a midget submerged in a big puddle with a shotgun caused it as they drove over it.. We dont know.

Well it makes a good change from discussing spotted's and coloured lights.
At least we are getting some technical information about engines, parts, specifications, ideas etc which is what I prefer.
I want to know because Im building an engine, I want to know because I like to know what makes a good engine. I want to know because I like to know what others are doing and why. I want to know because I like learning.
Who cares why Harry's engine died. I dont particularly. I do care about preventing my engine blowing up however. So if I can understand more then Im happy.
When you take heads off you get water in the cylinder anyway, not loads, but some. What about a jammed open injector causing hydrolock?

It seems to me some people want someone to blame. Thats just f
ked! s
t breaks, get over it.
Lets analyse things and learn.
