Getting some new front discs and pads fitted to my Monaro VXR, the old ones juddered.
Has any one here had their car from new and not had brake problems?
If so did you carry out any special bedding in process?.
I am the second owner of my car so I cannot say how it was treated for the first few thousand miles, but it has been very well looked after since I have had it.
As these parts will be replaced under warranty I want them to last.

I had replacement discs on my vxr8 after 2.5k miles. I suspect that either a failed batch or they were fitted badly as I think this is crazy low mileage.

From my own experience though I've found the key is not to over stress the pads for 200 miles to let the chemical residue naturally burn off and to allow the pads and discs to wear evenly. After that you want to do some 70mph-10mph stops that are firm but not to hard and definately not engaging the abs (you don't want the wheels to lock or stop turning - don't come to a standstill). You need to do this a few times to get the pads and discs up to temperature. You should find each stop becoming better and better as the temps get optimal however don't over heat the brakes. Once up to temp you want to do one very hard stop this time on the threshold of the abs and again don't come to a stop.

After this drive normally for at least 15 mintues to allow the brakes to cool. After this the pads and discs should be spot on. Crap can build up so theres nothing stopping you repeating this every few thousand k to re-bed the brakes in.

The best brakes I ever had fitted were done just before a track day. The drive there allowed them to get prep'd and after a day bombing round the track they were simply stunning for ages.
