Right, maybe someone can help me out here. I'm trying to get my head around the new tax rules that come in thanks to that tt Alistar (check out my eybrows) Darling.

My 04 cv8 registered in march 05 comes under the current F band as it was registered before 23/3/06 and therefor pay £210 every year. So how much will I be paying come next year.....the highest price one of £440? or does this only apply to new cars?

Talk about confusing!

There good eyebrows. This year we payed £400 for our 56 plate, however next year its going up to £500. Apparently it's not the age that is the issue its the engine size. There all gonna cost the same unfortunatly. yikes
Col said he's not 100% sure but he is "pretty" sure. Sorry hun

It'll be top band from next year, so yes £440.00. Had Darling not decided to broaden the net to cars manufactured from 2001 we would have been ok. Sadly, there's no sign of him backing off this yet and still no definate moves on holding back on the 2p a litre rise on fuel in September.

The banding is not based on engine size, it's based on manufacturers emission figures which began to be shown on V5's from 2001. So, some smaller engined cars built in 2001 could 'in theory' be in the same band as our 5.7/6.0 cars!

Check out this link for any car and it will tell you what you will have to pay.

My wife vhas just got her Fiat 500 1.2 sport???? in Pasadoble red, all of 70bhp, but she has got a spoiler at the back and front fog lights and sporty steering wheel.

£35 a year tax + 55 mpg. It is quite nice to drive but it isn't a monaro.
