Having owned mine for a total of about 4 weeks now and not seen any others, I was wondering how many of these great cars were actually imported? Also, and excuse my ignorance, is the current VXR8 still simply a re-badged Holden?

Just under 1000 of all Monaro variants (CV8/VXR(HSV) VY & VZ models) were imported I believe, so it's a rare car

VXR8 is a Holden with HSV treatment, over here comes with a Vauxhall badge, and called the VXR8.
Monaro CV8 is a Holden.
Monaro VXR is a Holden with the HSV treatment.

Hope this makes sense

I have had my Monaro for 8 Months and 6000 miles, I have yet to see another on the road.
Its a pretty exclusive car.

Ive seen a fair few of them, all in 1 place.. Most of the managers at vauxhall were able to get them on the car scheme for next to nothing..so they did!!!

Thats a point, does anyone on here own one that used to be owned by GM / Vauxhall fleet management???? Probably would be 05/55/06 reg ones.

Think the numbers are in the FAQ thread?
04 CV8 230 cars
04 VXR 60 cars
VXR 500 12 cars

Unsure on the 05 models, but 05VXR is most common model I believe.

"The CV8-Z was a limited edition run of only 1200, manufactured from July 2005". Considering most of those are probably still in OZ I guess that makes it pretty rare.

Only if someone personally imported one, Vx didn't.

what's the difference between the CV8-Z and the VZ CV8?

Is it just the orange & black bits?

The CV8Z is a VZ CV8... just one of a special batch (I think they were the last ones produced)

IIRC they are all Fusion colour, with "CV8Z" wheels, black nostrils, sunroof standard. They are commanding a premium over normal VZs here.

Damn, wish I'd imported one of those - looks great. Still happy with mine though (above).

I would have certainly liked a sun roof. Let more engine noise in :-)

I believe there are approx 700 6.0VXRs of which 15 were converted to VXR500s. I thought there are 100 VZ CV8s, another contributor I remember reckoned 133.

Certainly looking at the classifieds the 6.0s are the most numerous.

On your favourite subject of gearboxes, the very last VZ CV8s had the shorter ratios that the early VZs were supposed to have but Tremec incorrectly labelled them. This was corrected later on when they realised the mistake.

Mine had a replacement gearbox under warranty in 2007 but I cannot tell you if it's the "right" one or not.

right, my CV8 VZ was built in Dec 04, has this got the high or low ratios? like I said ages ago im confused. I have to admit it is not a nice car to drive at town speed's I suspect it's got the wrong gear box fitted.
