If I lived in England...I'd do all this crap !!!

As I dont...it costs several hundred quid just to get there and back...and July/August is the most expensive !!

i see you have a entry stevie,it was a well run event last year hopfully the same this year only longer (1 mile).you should have a good shot at it,have you had it flat out yet? i struggeled with gearing last year (3.9 diff) so ive fitted a dodge viper diff (3.08) so hope this wil help ,it was reving out in 5th and 6th was to tall,oh and another 50bhp. any monaros coming ?

Decided why not....I just hope things stay together after TOTB.

At last years TOTB, with a 5.7 I ran 191mph over the standing mile. FT requires fully road legal tyres, so this will affect things in 2 respects.
It messes up my gearing slightly using normal road tyres, and obviously I lose a little traction. Dont think traction will have a huge impact on terminal speed though.

With the 255/50x16" tyres and 3.55 diff at TOTB, I reckon I could scrape 200mph at around 7000rpm in 5th gear ( 191mph was 6660rpm )

With the 255/40x17" road tyres....that will never happen. 7000rpm would equate to about 194mph.....not really where I want to be atwink

Guess I'll have to slip in a slightly taller diff smile

I'll throw my own GPS timing in anyway, and even if it doesnt do it in a mile...I'd like to keep going until I hit the magic number....if it feels possible of course.

This event is a hoot, but I can't make it this time.

Managed 175mph the year before last, not in the 'ro though.

Sorry your right, I was getting confused with 'terminal velocity', which was same area and similar runway event.

At terminal velocity the hero the year before had to be the Sierra Cosworth that did over 200 mph (I think it was 203mph if my memory serves).

He also did some scary standing quarters, spinning in every gear and going over the line sideways on one occasion.

Fighting torque is very similar but 0.2 miles shorter.

Terminal Velocity was over either 1.5, or 1.6 miles. Rod Tarry did around 211mph in his Sierra, and Joel's Viper winning with 215.6mph.

Joel did 203.9mph at the standing mile at TOTB last year, making only one attempt.

Fastest I have travelled is 191mph, again one attempt only...its not the sort of thing you can try on a daily basis, and I wouldnt even entertain the thought of it on a public road.

So chances to do such things in a relatively safe/legal enviroment dont crop up that often.
