Thinking of changing my Monaro VXR for a VXR8.
Anybody else done this already.
How do the cars compare?
Does the VXR8 have common probs like the monaro?

Well I had the old model sedan, interestingly it drives much the same in that its the same driveline, so expect the same feel to driving.
However handling is much improved as are the brakes.
There is also the extra goodies like 6 stack cd and bluetooth. Also the boot is massive.
Plus shed loads of rear seat space for 4 rugby types.

So in summary much the same, but also much improved if that makes sense.

Take one for a drive, they are pretty peppy stock.

Planning to take one out but interested to know if they have a range of potential problems like the monaro such as flaky door handles etc.
Anyone had one for a while?
Anybody got a 6.2 LS3 yet?

Don't think any LS3s have been delivered yet - sure it's either late this month or early-next.

Not seen any reported problems - at least not re-occuring ones.

Having driven both, the VXR8 drives FAR better but I prefer my Monaro for a number of reasons (fewer doors, arguably prettier (such as these things are)) and so on.

I heard the early ones had the usual water leak but that's been fixed on recent builds. Like the Monaro, some folk seem to have gearbox woes. I'd avoid the auto if you plan to tune, just my 2p.

If you are not in a hurry then wait for the "Mk3". We have the LS3-engined ones arriving any minute, but the transmission upgrade is expected after that.

Yes, US based GXP specs have been published with the new trans (TR6060). So Id expect that to turn up very soon in the LS3. Maybe even in the new uk shipped version?

Mine is build number 1 for what its worth and no water leaks... yet. Had the gearbox replaced, but Phil at WP seemed to think it was the press hack for thrashing. Still no complaints from me, it was tested for me smile
Disks, pads etc all look good.

I do get some clicky noises from the front, but a lot of the inner guards are plastic and only clipped on feebly so probably rattle around.

Otherwise all is well. Had the stereo cut out a few times, but its been fine since picadors said that the BCM had no calibration in it!?

Unless you are buying second hand now, Id wait for the LS3 for sure (and the TR6060). Though interestinly there was/is an LS3 on autotrader. Whether they know what they are talking about is another matter. But it could be the Vauxhall demo? The wanted low £30k for it.

I had VXR Monaro for 3 years (Ls1) px'd it for VXR8,last Sept.
Up side,4 doors,even bigger boot,more grunt,better brakes,better mpg,better handling.
Down side, can't think of any to me.
Not had any box or leak problems.
