Climate Change Scaremongering!
Discussion
Below is a very interesting letter that appeared in the Sunday Times on June 8th 2008.
CLIMATE-CHANGE SCAREMONGERS
While there is no excuse for excessive waste and pollution, the average person going about their daily business has a far smaller impact on CO2 emissions than Julian Taylor suggests (Letters, last week).
Carbon dioxide is a benign gas that constitutes only 0.04% of the atmosphere (400 parts per million). Man is responsible for 4% of this tiny total – nature the rest.
The UK is responsible for about 2% of world CO2 emissions; so, as an example, British flying accounts for some 6% of 2% of 4% of 0.04%.
That’s a lot of noughts, and the tiny end result is reduced by another huge factor because the main greenhouse gas – water vapour – has 30 times the impact of other greenhouse gases (such as methane). In total, worldwide man-made CO2 emissions constitute some 0.15% of all greenhouse gases.
The man-made climate-change industry has been the product of a perfect storm, whereby interesting but mostly highly theoretical research by climate experts has combined with the politically inspired and nonscientific bureaucratic “summarisers” on the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
They have deliberately erased Earth’s past warming episodes in order to end up with a scaremongering result that bears limited relationship to the scientific information they were presented with by the various IPCC working groups.
The climate emperor has no clothes and the depressing reality of “politics, bandwagons and taxes” is far closer to the truth than an imminent global catastrophe. Energy security and overpopulation are the much more serious concerns.

Today's school curriculum Geography seems to reflect the above statement. In 'my day', let's say that was 20 years ago, we were taught a non-pc view of earth's historical geography whereas now, to scare kids a bit - kids are told that if the we keep polluting, then places like East Anglia will be submerged and become tropical lagoons just as they were over several thousands of years ago.Now teachers won't qualify the above by adding that a)the British Isles were at that time, somewhere near where the Mediterranean is now and b)we were in between ice ages that occur in natural cycles and c) we are just coming to the end of an Ice age which means that all that all that water locked up in the poles will cause sea levels to rise whether humans were on the planet or not!!
Also, another interesting point to add here is that climate change appears to be occurring throught our solar system. An example is Mars where it has been discovered that it's poles are shrinking and that temps have risen by, I think, 0.5 to 1 degree celcius since the Viking Missions of the 1970's.
The explanation for the above on Mars has been put down to the recent activity of the adolescent (in terms of Univeral history)star that we all spin around. There have been huge solar flares over the last few decades that have sent millions of tons of gas and debris into the atmospheres. This has affected weather patterns causing huge windstorms to whip up sand and throw it up into Mars' atmosphere. This has had the effect of trapping any surface heat that would normally escape through the thin Martian atmosphere. Sound a familiar scenario to our humble orbiting rock??
ps Don't tell Gordon Brown about Mars 'cos I'm sure he'll find a way of blaming us and raise taxes even further....

It's comforting to know that there are still people out there with intelligence and common sense, willing to look at the facts and make up their own minds, and not just blindly accept the tripe that we are fed by people who will only see what they want to see on a daily basis.
Unfortunately belief in our own infallibility has become a matter of 'faith' rather than based on any logical thought process. We are killing the planet - one way or another - don't really mind from which angle you look at - warming / pollution / wars / hello magazine / the beckhams

Yours hypocritically

Have to agree with Dragonball - yes we are killing the planet. It's called over-population. Humans could be classed as a parasitic organism.
The Earth's not in danger - we are. No matter what happens to us, the planet will carry on long after we've screwed it up for ourselves.
So, the big question is, do I still go for the Supercharger or p/x for a VXR8? You only live once - so does everyone else so enjoy!

Every time I fly (in a plane I hasten to add, I'm not that ecologically proficient yet...), I look down on the Earth and see it universally scarred by humans. Inevitably, this volume of building erases vast tracts of trees which can never be replaced and affects drainage, water absorption, compacts the earth, emits heat and massive volumes of waste. How can we not have an overall effect on the planet? That said, I don't believe a word of the C02 hokum.
Well considering mankind in its present form appeared about 1 second to midnight as far as earth history is concerned I dont think the mess we make will cause any major issues for the planet or solar system. Long after mankind is gone the earth will remain. So its not the planet thats being hurt so much as mankind itself, well plus collaterial damage to other living species.
The only viable option is for space colonisation.
The faster the planet gets messed up the faster this option will become reality. Im builing a space rocket engine in preparation. Its based on an LS2 block

Except some of us are bigger parasites than others ( those f
kers in government are not only parasites to the earth, but normal people as well !!!! ).... and the latest load of horseshit from our un-elected, non car driving chauffeur driven, festering turd of a pm, is that he wants to ban all petrol driven cars by 2020! Why are we being forced into these measures, the solitary net result being more money into government coffers, which will be spent on Labours beloved welfare state scumbag citizens
Come on then Gordie, put your money (or our money) where your big mouth is - lets see you and your shitty party members being driven about in an electric egg
About the only hope we have at the moment is Boris who quashed Red Kens (ex-non car driving chauffeur driven festering leftie turd of a mayor of London) plans for the £25 congestion charge

When youve got 75 minutes to spare, have a listen to what this bloke has to say.

And according to a recent TV program I saw, it'll take about .25 of a second in those terms, to restore itself once we are gone. And gone we are going to be when the sun becomes a red giant. Tax that Gordon! The only viable option is for space colonisation.

Gordon. Why don't you just F*** **f back to whence you were elected and let England have it's own devolved government?

Really?? First I've heard of that one! Does that mean we're all going to be forced to drive cars powered by Dr Diesels disgusting devil fuel?? Bugger the CO2, when are they going to start measuring the filthy particulates that those things put out, christ they'll be putting up coal fired power stations next!!
Need an idea of this filth, if you drive in traffic everyday check out the state of your air filter after a few 1000 miles, Yep, we're all breathing this in!!!!
