We are driving through France and on to Southern Spain to stay with relatives. Should we take our straight through exhausts off and go back to standard. Has anyone else driven to Spain (from Dieppe) and can suggest best scenic route, not in any hurry. Any ideas about head light reflectors, spare lightbulbs and triangles?

Cheers Craig

Nobody checked anything with us, but you are supposed to have all the stuff including reflector jackets. Makes sense from a safety point.
The East coast is interesting. Drove over the Millau bridge which was good. Dropping down into the basque area and up the coast there from Bilbao is good, there is a massive winding steep road which cooked the brakes badly. But that was the best scenic part for me.

France was ok at times.

(Woops wrong spelling... Tiler got it right!)

When I went to Denmark recently, I just bought a wee Europe travel Kit, by the AA.

Contained a small booklet with info on different laws in different countries. Beam benders, GB magnet, warning triangle, first aid kit, and high vis vest.

It was on offer in Halfords at the time for around £30

Cant really go wrong at that, just to keep things right

Run straight through exhausts, and haven't had any problems with the boys in blue. Thinking we might do a run through germany sometime soon... if only for a week..

The Millau (pronounced meeyo) Bridge is awesome, you can drop off the road to the visitor centre which is well worth a look, although the Frogs don't seem to (like to) make a big thing of the English Designer (Norman Foster).

Don't wait to get your roadside kit form the ferry, it's rip off prices. You can get a jacket for about a fiver and triangle for the same from Aldi.

There are speed camera's dotted about, but I know I went through a couple and didn't hear anything.

The French and Spanish cops would look at you funny if you didn't have loud exhausts The funniest thing was going to the MotoGP in Valencia to see thousands of bikes at the event and riding around streets with no mufflers so they would sound like MotoGP bikes! The Police took no notice.
