After my slight “knock” I’m now aware what the insurance are paying out and as such Im looking for another Monaro to replace my broken one.

Apart from piston heads and auto trader anyone got any good places to keep an eye out for such toys?

I've missed the 'Ro for the past two months sooo bad.. even though Im still hurting bad from the crash!

Cheers

Glad to hear there paying out mate. I dont know of anywhere other than those you've mentioned. Are non of the ones on ph any good for ya? There's some well priced ones at the mo.
As for the missing the Ro i know what you meen. A window cleaner ran a red light and smashed our's up. It was repairable though but we had to wait 6 weeks for it because of part etc. I could have cried every time i looked at the drive and Col was like a bear with a sore head. No disrespect to Vecra SRi's but its no Monaro.
The main thing is that your all alive. Thank god. The aches and pains will go in time. Should find they become less painfull the day you pic your new Ro up ::

Mrs has already said im not allowed the supercharged one or the twin turbo one on PH frown

I keep toying with the thought of the 04/05 style ones with the bigger boot... but I really like the twin tail pipe and bonnet vents laugh

Whats the dis/advantages of the older styled ones compaired to the 06 sort?

Anyone know of major MOT problems that these cars suffer from?

if I was buying now I'd go for an 04 VXR with low mileage and hold out for a good one. Bonnet vents are easy - buy the bonnet from Monkfish and get it painted, will get rid of some of the stone chips the car will have picked up anyway. You wont get the dual pipes but you will get a big boot, a 3.7 ratio diff, uprated brakes and suspension, plus you'll have a real collectors item as there were only 50 or so to start with and a few of them have gone the way of your last Monaro.

Gaddammit man, are you a man or a mouse? Just do what I do. Buy it anyway and then take the flack. I'm sure it'll all blow over in ooooh....lets say 6 - 12 months

Go for the bigger boot. You'll be able to fit more overnight stuff in there (sleeping bag, pillow etc) for when she kicks you out for the night for buying the car.

To right. Get what you want. This is coming from a woman. She'll fall in love with it and the flack wont last long. A woman likes a man that cant be told what to do. Makes us go all girly. Do it man do it:: If she asked who gave you tha advice IT WAS'NT MEhehe

Sort of summerises the fact you can have what you want really... if she asks - its the air conditioning system! Aussie style.

Yeah you get a bigger boot but you get less horses no nostrils, pants exhausts. Yours and mine are basically a the old Vxr. More horses, uprated brakes. Go either the same or better. Dont go slower.

Tiler i see what you mean but given the choice of the two i'd still have mine. I dont like the single fogs on the frount and the skirt. I know it would blow mine away but it just does'nt look as good and you can see its an older model. Please guys NO HATE MAIL its just my view.

there are those on here, myself included that prefer the earlier model and not just because I have one but because its much sleeker and curvier looking than the big flat front they stuck on the later models. I prefer many things curvy and that includes my cars The only thing I may concede is the bonnet with the vents - some days I think yeah I really fancy that and other days I think I'm better off with the plain one - car is much more of sleeper without those big shouty vents. Oh and did I mention I've got a boot that I can put stuff in when we go away for the weekend!!

I'm with Mel on this one. I like the style of the model I had, think it will be a very similar one that ends up replacing mine.

Just got to get a wedding out the way first and a honeymoon (a week today!!! spin)
Then let the traveling round the country start to find my replacment toy.. Why oh Why is there none in Worcester laugh

Cheers for all the input guys and gal, been apreciated and interesting to see why different people like the different models.

I have the early model with bonnet vents best of both worlds, like my dad always said as i always contemplated a vxr, the kit looks stuck on, early models look sleek and they seem to flow, later ones seem to have a flat front, without causing an argument as i have a passion for all monaros i just think they look right althogh i do quite like the idea of twin exit exhausts
