Replacement brake disc
Discussion
Ive got a set of Baer calipers and bigger discs on the car. I think they are the same as the VXR so im looking online and all i can find is monkfish at £500 a pair. Anyone know of any other suplliers please. I dont want to scrimp on them but i am selling so i dont want to waste cash on it.
Hello all,
Just had front discs and pads replaced under warranty, are the friction pads sold by
monkfish on ebay a much better option than the vauxhall std items ?
I don't drive the car hard (got something else for that) and don't intend to, I just want half decent brakes that won't warp too quickly.
I'm also waiting for rear discs (again warranty job) which are on back order !, anybody have any idea
when these will be into stock ? (very disappointed that having bought a newish car, vauxhall can't even stock a service part like brake discs, even less that the dealer is clueless about when they will be available !)
Thanks.

My 05 Ro had really bad judder, replaced the pads only and judder reduced and then dissappeared as the friction pads "reground" the surface.
Imagine (in simple terms!!) the friction pads grip like fine sand paper whilst the adhesive pads (standard fitment) grip like an eraser. - the "eraser" pads shed and you get material transfer which leads to the judder.
Topic been covered loads on here, but there is skepticism as to whether there is any warping at all - probably just material transfer in a lot of cases.
To avoid transfer, avoid holding the car on the brakes after a high speed/long braking period as the heat build up leaves an impression on the disk, which then builds up over time. Also make sure you dry your brakes off after washing your car as the corrosion from the detergent causes surface irregularities - again where the pad presses on to the disk there will be a high spot.
HTH!

Sorry Fluffsri/cv8!
I believe there are 2 sizes - one for 04 and one for 05 facelift (PBR branded) - I was told my brakes are "comparable" to VXR brakes ie better than 04 cv8 but nowhere near AP's.
As for size i don't have a clue!
