I need the following parts, anyone got any of these or know the best place to buy from without paying through the nose (I was going to try a few american parts co's for the engine parts)?
343mm front discs + pads
LS1 power steering tank
LS1 crank pulley dampener (sits between main belt and AC belt pulleys)
Thanks

When you say crank pulley dampener...what do you mean ?
generally, the crank damper is the crank pulley itself, which I would have.
I'd have the PAS tank...either in plastic, or aluminium. I dont have a lid for them though, so you'd need your own lid.
Alloy one aint cheap, as I paid a lot for them though.

i've been reliably informed that the there's a rubber damper that sits between the two pulleys.
the outer pulley wobbles when cold and then it gets better as the engine warms up and the rubber expands.
how much do you want for the plastic tank inc postage?
any suggestions re best place with good prices for LS1 engine parts and also 343mm front discs?

Are you sure on the reliability of that information ?the outer pulley wobbles when cold and then it gets better as the engine warms up and the rubber expands.

send me an email or your email address, and I'll email you pics of the pulley and PAS tank, just to be 100% its what you need.

The inner part of the damper slides onto the crankshaft, the outer part of the damper is bonded to the inner portion with rubber. You can't take it apart. Through time, a lot of time or a lot of miles etc the rubber will start to perish and you'll see small cracks. You also need a new pulley bolt.the outer pulley wobbles when cold and then it gets better as the engine warms up and the rubber expands.
If Stevie can't help you then I have dampers and bolts. HTH.

peter, i'm interested, please let me know the dimensions.. do you have pads too?
stevie i will send you a message to let you know my email address.
boosted, thank you.. do you have a price for the parts i need? is it just the two parts of the damper that i need, i'm guessing i can keep the existing pulley(s)?

Are you planning to fit the parts yourself? The crank pulley is a pain to change - you need a puller to remove it (after removing rad fans), then heat the new one before sliding it back on with the aid of a heavy mallet and lots of sweat. Not really a diy job TBH.
That's definately not the correct way to install an ls1 pulley.hsv_sc said:

You need to clarify what you want. The damper/pulley is a one piece unit. You can't fiddle with it, you remove and replace. Of interest what's exactly wrong with yours, they don't wobble?I have a new one if you need it so shall send you a price for it and a new bolt. If you do this work yourself you'll need a puller, a means to lock the engine up and a bloody long bar to get the right torque setting before you then fit the new bolt.
thanks for the info guys.
the pulley wobbles quite a lot when cold.. which makes the main belt squeal, it gets a bit better once warm.
a garage will be doing the work, and they've delt with these lumps before so should be fine.
i'm guessing this pulley comes as part of a kit including the rubber dampener which fits onto the crank?

Also, a length of M16 threaded bar and nut etc is very handy, or almost essential to fitting the front pulley.
They are an interference fit, and a bloody tight one !!!
pulling them on with the bolt, is a no no.
I agree with this and have a threaded bar but it's a tad worrying when the GM manual instructs to pull on using the old bolt before fitting the new bolt. I once saw a topic in the US where the guy had buggered the threads in the crank and he couldn't remove or tighten the bolt. Engine out job in the end. They are an interference fit, and a bloody tight one !!!

Are the discs the standard ones, if they are I have a brand new pair (for 04 CV8) in their boxes from Oz in my garage. Bought them but the time they got here I had already changed to AP's. Can have them for £100 the pair assuming they fit yet to get rid of them. Pickup only though and meet somewhere. Live near BlueWater shopping centre, Kent, near Dartford Bridge.

The crank pulley is effectively a 1 piece item. It does not come apart, and it should not be attempted to take it apart.the pulley wobbles quite a lot when cold.. which makes the main belt squeal, it gets a bit better once warm.

the discs are 343mm (Harrops as fitted to VT GTS).. can you let me know if they are the same size?Gassing Station | HSV & Monaro | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
