hi, i`ve just put a deposit on an 04 plate monaro cv8 and i can`t wait till i get it!! In the days of high fuel prices i`m trading in my mondeo ST estate for a wonderful gas guzzling V8! Sounds daft but i only do a relatively small amount of miles so its not too expensive to run. I`ve never owned a rear drive car before so its going to take a while before i drive with a lead foot but the test drive showed me how easy it is to drive in a civilized manner and how much fun it is when the loud pedal is pressed a bit harder! lovely rumble at low revs.

unfortunately it isn`t going to be for at least a week i think cos i have to put my private plate on retention and that means sending off the V5 so i don`t know the best way of doing it. gonna ring the dvla in the morning and find out about it.

the car is black btw, the nicest colour imho. had to go from hull where i live to norfolk to get.

finally picked up the monaro last sat and its ace! i drive it like a grandad at the mo cos i am a little bit aprehensive of its performance but that will change. also the aircon likes to be cold as if the aussies don`t know what cold weather is! and the brakes are....adequate i would say. def need to look into a vxr upgrade for em at the least. can`t stretch to AP`s. but it sounds sooooo good when i`m brake enough to give at a boot full!!

I've got an MY05 VXR and I'd describe the brakes on that as adequate at best. They don't inspire much confidence at all, if I were to be going to the effort of getting uprated brakes I'd be interested in trying the APs or similar. It might be worth doing the same, I don't feel the VXR brakes are all that. That being the case the brakes on a CV8 must be terrifying. Especially if someone has started down the upgrade path of "make it stop, make it handle, make it go" in the reverse order!

There great ain't they. Funnily enough i didn't start of driving miss daisy. I just drove it like i stole it. Got to admit though the brake ain't the best. I wonder if monkfish do interest free credit, buy now pay in three years. Maybe not, i guesssilly

Okay, it's pedant time.

Yes, I know the vehicle was built in Dec 2004 (as detailed on the under hood tag). However, the DVLA and my insurers know it as registered in 2006.

It's common practice for vehicle manufacturers to build and stockpile cars on old airfields etc, then register them as required.
