WHile washing the car yesterday I noticed that the drivers side front brake disk was scored in a perfect circle about half way throuhg the disc. Not deep but noticeable. The pads have done 18k miles. How long should pad last - its not been tracked and mainly does motorway miles. Does the scoring indicate that the pads are shot? Thanks for your help!
Rob.

I'd be inclined to say you have just managed to pick a stone up and its got trapped between the pad and the disk and made the nice circle.

If the pads had worn to the point where it was metal on metal scoring the disk you would notice the noise and also reduced braking ability.

As for how long the pads should last... can't help on that one.

Cheers mate. Certainly no loss of braking or noise so hopefully all's well.

The scoring is wearing away nicely so that must have been it. Ta Hex.
