F*****g kamakazi pheasant decided to side swipe me at about 70mph today and took the 'mirror' part of my wing mirror with it! The plastic is all still there and i can hear the motors working, but nothing is moving.
Anybody have similar experiences with a Ro and knows how much they cost to put right?
To be honest it could have been worse, i was expecting to see some nice big dents down the length of the car, as it did make a hell of a thud when it hit. Loads of bird snot all over the drivers window though! laugh

This could go one of two ways.
Either the mirror broke and cleanly came away from the motor housing and fixtures, if so you just need a new mirror.
Or it has taken part of the motor fixtures with it.
If anyone has done the convex mirror mod recently they will be able to tell you what should be left in the hole quite accurately.
I did it 18 months ago and not too up on what went where now!

I did the mirror mod last year and still have the old driver side mirror if you need one?

Cheers.....I'm off work next week so i'll take it down to my local Vauxhall dealer first and see what they say. Unless the one you have is already Odyssey Blue? Thanks.

Sorry, should have said I just have the glass aspect of the mirror, not the whole housing.

I know it's a few weeks since this thread was originally up, but if RedBarron84 is reading.....the mirror part you have, is it just the glass - or does it have some prongs on the back of it that locate into the motor drive that moves the mirror? I'm still trying to assess what i need to buy, went to my local Vauxhall dealer today who say they can fix it, but want paying upfront (for the parts i need), and i'd have to buy the whole assembly and have it sprayed and fitted. So if i can find a cheaper solution then that'll be great, if not then i'll have to book it in - which is really annoying as that money could of been spent on something a little more exciting for the car! weeping

To my knowledge it is the mirror with the black plastic coupling connection thingy (technical term!) on the back which you have to 'pop' into place in the housing. I'll double check tommorow for you as the car is up at work and it's still in the boot.
