Hi mate, I wasnt sure but the id was sent to Vauxhall with the issue description and now a new "light unit" is being sent. Quite what a light unit is Im not sure. Ill see if I can case it out when I go there. Sounds like the whole light cluster to me, but Ill find out soon.
On the LS1 forum, they were saying it was faulty HSV rear light units............

Hi,
I have this problem on my VXR8 on occassion the left hand indicator speeds up to twice the speed ?? very interested if you manage to sort this one out
Yeah I knew a few had the problem. Its a definite known issue with a fix as of August 08. Ill let you know how it goes.I have this problem on my VXR8 on occassion the left hand indicator speeds up to twice the speed ?? very interested if you manage to sort this one out
Yes to Duncan and yes to John.
Picadors Southampton has the fix, mine seems ok so far. It was failing 100% of the time in the end.
Apparently my wiring is different to everyone else's for some reason. Maybe because my was the first build etc. Typical.
Its an electronic bit behind the light unit.

I've just recently had this problem. Weird thing is it only happens when turning right.
Anyway the engineer reckons it's this:
"The module is there to monitor the LED operation and translate this information from the LED's into something that the BCM (body control module) can understand. If approximately 25% of the LEDs fail then the BCM will/should through up a bulb failure warning light up on the instruments. Only thing I can think of its this module is reading the LED resistance incorrectly and shutting the indicator off."
Thought I'd have to wait months for it to turn up but it came the next day because VX had stock.....only to find that the manufacture date was June 07 the same as mine and not a new one!
So far so good but it might mean another trip if it has the same problem as the original.

Yes I need to return to get mine sorted out. At least they know there is a problem and have the technote. Sounds like in some instances a new light unit was also required. Apparently that option wasnt available on mine for some reason. I need to call and rebook it in. Hopefully this time to get fixed properly. I dont think that will happen before Jan earliest as Im off on holiday soon.
Plus, yes got other things to fiddle about with like sorting out idle and startup at present
