Hi all,

Complete newbie here so I apologise in advance. I'm looking at getting a 2006 6.0 VXR but I'm not really sure what I should be looking for. What are the common problems on monaro's? Also, should I try to get one with the Wortec and ripshifter already fitted or not? and probably more importantly should I pay more (and if so how much more) for them to already be fitted??

Any help would be ace. beer

Hello and Welcome,
pleased that you are looking at purchasing a Monaro, they are fairly free of problems and there is normally many low mileage examples out there still with plenty of warranty to run.

Finding one with a few toys is always a good thing and should not cost you anymore over and above book price.

Happy hunting and let us know how you get on.

Cheers gents,

I've seen a nice looking, non moddied, vxr in hemel hempstead. Very tempting but I would prefer to have some extra's already on the car I buy. Especially if it shouldn't really increase the purchase cost!! thumbup

Welcome......i'm still a relative newbie myself, i've only had my Monaro CV8 for 10 weeks now, and you won't regret buying one thats for sure.smile
There is a wealth of knowledge about these cars on this forum, and everyone here is cool and helpful. One thing i didn't find out until after i'd bought the car is their lack of quality underside protection from the British winters.....i'm taking mine to get Waxoyl treatment this week.
But they are a blast to drive, and i guarantee that EVERY time you get out of it....you'll turn back and look at it, with a big grin on your face! wink

Hi Mate, welcome. I do hope you can get a Monaro/ HSV. We need to get the numbers up for our strip days! beer

If you can find one with all the bits on, it will always be cheaper than adding them yourself later.

A CX500 is a perfect companion to a monaro. It's a V for one and I have no baffling at all on the bike so it's f*ing loud. Tad slow and yes it does handle like a bathtub but...

I meant 'gents' in the non-gender specific format paperbag what a start to a forum!

Look at it this way, if its standard you can spend upwards of £13,000 easy. I think its better to buy one with loads of upgrades from the start.
