Low road noise, good in the wet, good even when cold and long lasting.

Mine won't see any track days but will be used on long motorway cruises, so road noise will be an issue.

Any suggestions people?

Searching didn't answer my main questions so I started a new thread.

Cheers in advance for the replies.

Call me controversial, but I've got 19" Kumho Ecstas on and they've been brilliant so far. Have done just over 1000 miles in them since fitting and can't tell the difference between them and the P-Zeros. I've got a 56 plate 6.0 VXR which is my daily driver in all weathers (I can just see Stig looking in horror wink ).

http://www.event-tyres.co.uk/quotation/results.php...

Event tyres fitted mine, £587.40 for four all-in. If I can't tell the difference between them and the much more expensive tyres, why pay more? For branding and marketing? I'm going to have to disagree with those giving the stock *grumble* VXR, 19", stick with Pirellis *grumble* line here. The Kumhos are extra load and the correct speed rating.

Maybe someone who drives balls-out at 10/10ths all the time might be able to notice it, but I can't tell a thing. I'm not a driving God, but I don't think most people are TBH.

Consider my £0.02 contributed smile

great to hear as I was looking for those last year but found none. They are the bargain tyre of the century (or were) so I'll get a set next time. Currently running Coti sport 3's which are very good but the ££££

I found the opposite with the CV8. The Bridgestones that were fitted from new were suicidal in the wet, I had several scary moments and couldn't wait to get rid of them (in fact I went out and smoked them ragged so I had a good excuse). Changed to Goodyear Eagle F1s which are like rails by comparison.

Would you recommend the Pirellis for 18" CV8 rims?

Seconded on the Eagle F1's (I got the new asymmetric version) which are 100 times better than the OEM rubber.

I was running conti's on 19" rims, now have pilot sport on 18" which I am very impressed with, they are pricey but from previous experience last 25-30% longer than the conti's.
As a side 18s seem to work much better than 19s on the Monaro and the last time I checked tyres were a good bit cheaper as well.

I had no such issues with my original Bridgestones, so when Roger advised me to stick with them when the time came to renew I didn't question it. It was even chucking it down the day the new ones went on, but no "scary moments" on those either. I've read/heard about problems with sidewall bulges on the F1s, so didn't even consider them.

These tyre threads can always be relied upon to throw up totally different opinions of the same tyres!
