Looking at the other thread about the stolen Monaro, it seems our security isn't as good as it could be. What additional security do you have? I'm now thinking of getting a tracker.
We had a tracker fitted before we picked up the car. But then we have ADT on our house. Monitored systems is the only way to go IMHO

Cars get stolen but I'd wonder if this was a key theft job. Worried about security? Best option is to lock your tune file and install a valet key (something I'm considering)mines got a META GPA800 system in it...I believe it was a standard fit on later models. Seems ok, sends me a text message every month telling me its fine. When the alarm goes off, i get a text message and GPS coordinates. Can also warn me when the vehicle goes over a certain speed limit, abd you can immobilise the system via SMS.
dont think its that expensive either...

Only problem is your front door might be smashed in getting the keys. A clamp puts them off from doing even that.
So one night they turn up with the intent of getting in your house and stealing your car keys. Where do they think the key to clamp will be?

What is this "anti-smash" that you speak of? What does it do? And where can you get it?
If I'm correct in my knowledge (there has been holes in it before) then the anti-smash is a window film, it covers the inside of the window much like tint would. This film is applied as you would apply window tint, however it's slightly elastic and that stops the glass from being pushed in when the window is popped.
Meaning that the thieves would still be able to shatter your window, but then they'd have to apply a fair bit of pressure to your window and push it in. All the time causing more noise, possibly hurting themselves and hopefully putting them off.
Google it, I think some places refer to it as security film.
Be warned, back in the late 90's some insurance companies didn't like it as it hindered emergency services personnel from being able to gain access to vehicles that had been in a bump.
Not sure if that's still the case.
Hope I'm right

Regarding the Cobra Trak5 system mentioned earlier, if you can't find a CAT5 approved company near you, go for the Cobra Trak ADR. Its the same unit, has the ID keys, and is a lot cheaper. No remote immobilisation tho, although i think it has to be fitted on the starter motor for CAT5 not the fuel...

s11lmx... u are correct m8... it's a tint like film but no tint although u can have it tinted smoke rear windows back. It will prvent smash and grab incidents and sustained attack will not break thru unless u have the window slightly down... If u are in high crime area close all windows and they cant break thru unless they point a shotgun at u.
Hammer attacks or rocks etc the glass wont shatter in your face and laminate will hold all the glass in place. Remember our VXR8's glass is already Legal 70% tint in the glass but i'm unsure the Manaros...
The one i have installed is by AutoTint and they have a base in London, Manchester and HQ is in Newcastle Upon Tyne... they also do bullet broof grade for the police cars. It is also availabe for public but generally security firm use.
Mr Rockwell u can get it from AutoTint and Geof is the guy who installed mine and the lady quoted £210 for sides only, front and rear dosn't need doing... £45 per window and the rest the tiny rear bits. Tell her that i had mine done there and get a similar quote.
edit- insurance wise i am with Zenith and they hate mods... they simply do not allow it but they will allow me getting the clear Anti Smash Film applied.

i just park the missus 307 hdi behind it. What self respecting criminal would to be caught trying to steal a 307 for gods sake!
For my insurance I have an Alert 24 fitted (Smartrack) brilliant system and the company are really easier to deal with. All the usual functions (tracker activated if car started/electics disrupted and also if lifted(tow truck)) anyway they direct police immediately and call you on mobile.
