They do have an LSD, not a great one, but it can be made to work.

As for axle tramp, fit a rear end pac, and if its a CV8, change your suspension too. Job done thumbup

Changing the bushes will help because a lot of the "tramping" is the leading end of the rear subframe bouncing up and down on its soft bushes. Will also stop the rear end wobbling about quite so much. MYM8V8 had a set recently. I dont think he will mind me saying he was quite pleased with the outcome.

We dont do payment upfront - just on completion when you pick the car up

My CV8 always axle tramps unless the conditions are very slippery. Never spins cleanly. A mate who watched a back wheel said it jumps up and down more than 6 in. Traction control just stops and starts the action every 1/2 second or so. Researching cures was inconclusive though many recommend the Harrop diff cover.

CV8 dampers are just to weak to control the wheel in those circumstances. So you get that AND the subframe hopping up and down. The VXR dampers are better, but not perfect in that respect.

Alternatively, substantially increase the power

Roger, nope more power don't help it, more sideways action and it goes away. Normally happens if the roads are only a little bit wet or if you are in a straight line. If the back end is hangin out then you won't get it. So I've been told. Hopefully a thing of the past, will find out soon.

Question for us VXR8 people Roger, have you anything on the cards for them?

Axle tramp is just as bad as it was on the old model. Sideways is ok, just not straight ahead..

Sure have, only days away in fact. Even better, lets do yours while its in? Be rude not to while its up in the air. We can do some proper alignment on it too while we are at it.

You will need more than bushes to completely eradicate it, although this mod' goes a lot of the way. The poor rear suspension set up is partly to blame, and the crap lsd does not help matters either. If you have a look underneath have a look at every joint. Lots of rubber right? This is great for a nice compliant ride, but not so good if you want to give it the gun, because it all slops and slides around. Imagine whats happening to the geometry. The poor old car doesn't know whether to stick twist and ends up doing neither. I can recommend the urethan bush kit, but there is more that needs to be done. Unfortunately, each thing that you tighten up will make your ride handle better but make it less compliant.

The pictures show tramp marks left. Indicates that the tramp is synchronised between the wheels. I am wondering about installing a video camera under the car to view what actually moves and so what might benefit by being more rigidly mounted. I'm pretty reluctant to dive in with mods when the ride and damping are already pretty firm. The Monaro's handling/ride compromise is already pretty poor compared to say a mk3 Mondeo (The Mondeo is useless in a straight line however, its 170 Bhp V6 being over whelmed by the it's weight and bulk).

It was certainly a perfect day for testing.

The pictures below show Supertramp. They were a 70s band popularised by many hits including "Dreamer and "Breakfast in America".

marginally more interesting

Yeah I think you could mellow out your launch somewhat Granada.

The Oz guys swear by the Harrop diff cover, if you do some searching on ls1.com.au there are a few theories etc.

The Septic's use different weight half shafts, apparently suggesting that the difference between the two seems to stop it. I think BMR do some beefy shafts etc.

I've got the bushes and the cover. Still get tramp (No where near as bad as before). Still working on it though. I have an interesting double adjustble shock to play with.

Look closely at what's happening there. The tramp is NOT in sync and one side starts to tramp before the other, setting up an oscillation which progressively gets worse until the driver gets out of the throttle.

That is due to torque twist in the chassis as the power goes on, transferring the weight to the left rear, which bites and the right rear starts to hop. Wonder what kind of LSD is in there?

Just seen that other thread and ID'd the car. It's a Ro. That figures. Is the car standard?

You might need to pay attention Wormus. You'll be wanting to put down 600+, right? I wonder, have done anything about that?
