Had a good day today, great company,we had our own pit space fenced off which was great.
Only had time for three runs before it started to rain. Very pleased with the
results. 12.7 , 12.6 and then a 12.5 @ 112
looking foward to next year.
Did the red corvette run?
I think the cold wind got to my brain today. I meant the 25th....

I got there quite early and it was very cold. There was a bit of rain later, not much, but racing commenced about 90 mins after it cleared and the track was dried.
Alan and I used DR's. My best was 12.71 at 112. We had a great showing with two utes, 1 VXR8 and 3 Monaro's. We were joined by my boy in his Pug 206, who tried very hard to empty his petrol tank, my mate with his Z06, who was just getting scrutineered when the rain started so he didn't bother.
Nevertheless another good day had by all and a particularly good time from Alan who beats Jez (12.6) and is breathing down Roger's neck (12.4).
Good to meet Jason (Gasman) and Charlie (Broadslide) who drove all the way from Wales to be there. Good effort lads.
Donk VXR (Chris) made the 2 hour trip up from Hants and has admitted to being hooked. Be interesting to see him beating his 13.5 when the new cam goes in.
WE had a visit from a new friend from Evesham in his SS 5.7 Ute who made 13.6 and will be joining us on the forum.
Thanks to Jerry and the crew from Shakespeare County Raceway for reserving pit space for the "HSV & Monaro Forum". Piccis to follow as I'm knackered for now.

12.5 NA? Nice.
Mind you, you were running drag radials
What were your 60' times?
The poor SC guys will be feeling left out soon.

Hi, 60ft times are getting a bit crazy,1.81!!! may need to upgrade half shafts etc.
Still running standard exhaust manifolds and cats. Atleast running DR`S saves your road tyres!! Maybe the SC guys should run DR`S then they would run quicker.

Is that in 19" Gareth and do they do 285ish size if so? My 2 sec dead 60ft is just by driving off the line, would be good to be able to "lauch" the car properly...!
No Roger, they are 18"s. Had to get a set of used Monaro rims to fit them. To be honest, I was very disappointed at the difference they made, they only got me a 1/10th over street tyres. I'm investigating???
Alan (Cresta)must have made some changes because he knocked off 4 tenths from his previous outing (12.9 to 12.5)that's a big difference and very impressive too.
Having said that, I made a big mistake filling the petrol tank the previous day.
(I think we all realise that if you could get all your SC'd power down the times would be a lot different.)

What pressure were you running Gareth? Down near 20psi?
No, another mistake. I thought they had been set at 25 by the tyre shop. After my runs I checked them and one was 30 and another was 26.I tried letting them down to 23 but the times went out. I checked the tyre wear and only seem to be getting graining on the outsides not the centre.
I'll be doing soem checking on how these work best???
Thanks guys. I know I only stayed about 3 hours, but that wind was biting! And with a little over 2 hours journey each way I felt it best to move on when it looked like the weather wasn't going to lift.
Pleased myself, I did 6 runs and got two 13.5s and one 13.6, beat my personal best which is always a plus. And still on normal road tyres at normal pressures and 3/4 tank of fuel!

drop 0.1s of your 60ft, and you will usually take 0.2s off the overall ET
So DR's make a HUGE improvement in that area.
Toyo's 888's are also very good tyres, both on road and strip etc. Just dont get caught in the rain with them. They arent ideal for wet weather, and can be nasty in standing water.
