Hi all,

I know the mere mention of using non italian rubber on an LS2 VXR is enough to warrant a flame-proof suit, but I'm feeling brave.

So, today I've gone Korean and have had Event Tyres (who were excellent) come out to me and fit 4x 19" Kumho KU31s which have been getting good reviews elsewhere. The load and speed rating are both spot on. The price? £538.99 all in.

So far I can't really tell any difference between them and my old P-Zero Rosso's while pottering about but then I've not done mega mileage today. I'll have to scrub them in and go for a blat at some point to see how they compare.

Wear wise I'd managed 20.7k out of the front tyres, which had been on from new. I've had two sets of rears, getting about 10k from each. I wasn't quite down to the wear markers, but not far off and it's hardly worth the risk.

More to follow (if anyone cares!)

used to run the their ecsta supras back in the day, very cheap and a very excellent tyre they were. I'm sure JAmieP will recall (Whether he did or not is another matter) when the mk4 boys were running them on very high power cars with great effect

JEz if they are anything like the bargain that the supras were (ecsta ku012s if i remember) they will be excellent value for money. The old tyres were grippy, were quiet and best of all cheap. I did look to see if they did our sizes the other year but couldnt find any, if they do them now I will def consider them over the (excellent) conti contanct sports

Are they 'extra-load' tyres?

Minimum is 91 load - these are 93.
Any benefits to say massively over load ratings ie 100+?

Yes they are

I've got a fair bit of driving to get through this month so we'll see how we go.
