Apols if this has been posted before, the search facility is currently fubar.

I need a replacement driver's side wiper blade (again, I think, I'm sure this has been replaced during service before) as the clip has disappeared from one end leaving the rubber free to wander off on it's own and thus potentially scratch the screen.

Went to Halfrauds but they don't list it, not even on the parts desk.

Are any of the standard wiper blades (eg Omega, etc) the same?

I simply took my old blades into local car shop and compared with ones on the hangers to find the right replacements. Actually bought driver side one that was about 5mm shorter than stock so it didnt keep hitting the edge of the windscreen. Bought a set of the "new" flat blade style and they seem pretty good at clearing the screen.

Flat style... is this the ones that are just like a single strip which wipes the screen - no ali frame to hold and press the blade..?

Thanks for the input - went back into Halfords and opened a few boxes, came away with a Bosch 22S (for Spoiler) which clicked straight on and seems to work just fine. Not sure if it's a Pug 306 equivalent or not - definitely not a 106, which is only 18" long!

Apologies - don't mean to hi-jack the thread but my wipers make one helluva noise when I get above 60mph, even if it's pi55ing down...air appears to be getting under the blade & lifting it off the screen...like they need an 'aerofoil' on the front for the air pressure to hold them down harder!

Any ideas?

The 'spoiler blade' variety should help, but on one of my cars I couldn't stop them juddering - light rain, heavy rain, spoiler blade, no spoiler blade, expensive blades, cheap blades - still they rasped across the screen.

Then I tried Valeo 'Silencio', which lived up to the name. Got them on the Monaro now too.

The blade on the drivers side should have an aerofoil across the back of the carrier to press the blade down at speed, lots of people overlook this when they replace the blade and most motor factors always hand over the ones without it because they are a £1 or 2 cheaper.
Ask for new blades with aerofoils

I picked up Pug 306 blades from Halfrauds in the past and they worked a treat smile

Thanks for that - where did you get them from...UK shop or internet? I remember the old 'Triple Edge' blades that I used on some of my cars but don't seem to be able to get them now...they were fantastic!

Sorry L2...mine's never had the aerofoil on either blade...also remember being abled to get clip-on ones that did the trick just as well...again, can't find them now! OR am I looking in the wrong places?

Paul.H.,

My Valeo blades came from a high street spares shop, one of 'The Motorist Centre' outlets. They are a well known make, so should be reasonably easy to track down.

Correction - it was an A1 Motor Centre - apologies. There is a website with all the outlets in the UK listed.
