Hi Guys,

A friend of mine had a 'lickle' accident in his Monaro... :-(

2007 Monaro VXR 500 15k miles - one of only 20 I understand.

The car was obliterated and his insurers aren't really offering what he thinks the car is worth (21k) - Can anyone tell me how he can get a realistic valuation?

He doesn't really 'do' computers so I am asking on his behalf - is there a 'Specialist' dealer in Surrey(Kingston Area) that does this or something?

Thanks guys - appreciate your help!

if they are offering £21k then bite their arm off thats a good price. ive seen them go for about £17-18k now

Not a VXR500, its prob worth more.

Try getting Greens of Holborough involved, its their creation.

IMO £21k is about right. Standard VXR are under £15k now.

I think OP is suggesting that £21k is the "what its worth" price, not the offer price - grammar suggests either - could be wrong smile

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the replies - 21k is what he has been offered - but as it has had the full Walkinshaw treatment of which there were only 20 @ £10k + wondered if it was worth more or if the Insurers were being 'fair'.

Its a good price, I'd take it.

If this car had the Walkinshaw treatment and being a 2007 model do you think it may be a VXR8, the guy posting for his mate may be confused about them.

Who knows.
If its a vxr8 then maybe £25k is more accurate. If its a 2 door then £21k is very fair.

Hi Guys,

Was Pre-registered 06 Because of the Walkinshaw mods - predecessor of the 8's

It was a Pre-Order job because of limited edition status etc.

If he can't get someone to commit on a value based on collectible/limited edition status and the insurers won't squeeze a bit more out on value may have to accept the £21k - but any other ideas much appreciated.

I posted a link to another lower mileage vxr500 or at least what appears to be one. So I think you will be pushing it to get any more. But if anyone has any suggestions fair enough.

I would ensure it is what it is before pushing the ins company. If it is a VXR500 it will have been supplied by Greens in Kent and enhanced with Wortec, not Walkinshaw. If it is an official 500 then Greens can provide proof of that via the chassis number. Ask for Matt at Holborough 0844 372 5406.

I was up at the MPH show last year and the guys on the Wortec Stand??? had just handled a similar case. They insisted it was a limited edition very special car (assuming it is a 500) and the insurers paid out in full to (in this case) get it fully re-built back to as new spec. Give Wortec a shout and see if they can help. Even if it is written-off you can get the value pushed up beyond their standard book rate for a Monaro. Grant

Thanks Grant - That's fantastic - though it's definately beyond repair I'm afraid! Very Very Very 'Trashed'.

But they may be able to help on the valuation.

Much appreciated!

See if you can buy it back for the salvage. I would be interested.

Going on the trade price of an 07 standard one and the fact the 500 will never be recognised in any of the guides the insurers have offered a fair premium over and above a standard car.

Personally take it as quick as possible before the next month comes and they re-value the car based on a next months guide price.
