After all the posts about the annoying noise coming from the rear of my car i have now done the following...

1. I took the car to the garage today and they have investigated the probability that it was a suspension bush, and found nothing to be wrong...

2. Had someone in the car who said the noise was coming from the area where the seat belt comes out of the body work.

What i would now like to know is how easy it is to remove that trim and how much of the trim and other parts of the car to i have to remove to gain access

Many thanks in advance

Unless the garage pulled the shock absorber unit off the car to fully inspect the rubber bushes then I would still say they are the likely cause.

Well they said they stripped it down and they couldnt find anything out the ordinary

They also said it sounds like its coming from the area where the seat belt comes out of the body work.

If the bushes were ok and located correctly then its probably the damper itself. Id remove the damper assembly complete and take it for a very slow drive up the driveway and see if its still there. Does it do it at low speed?

I now have the cars interior stripped and the noise is coming from what it seems a join/weld in the parcel shelf area. ONly thing im not exactly sure where.

Would this be something monkfish could look into for me and if poss apply necessary welds, would also be easier if i left the interior out till its resolved.?

Many thanks

Ahhhh, that old chestnut! Yes, we can sort out the welding for you. Better if you leave out the trim. Saves taking it out again.

As it goes im up at yours on Saturday to have the ripshifter fitted and a geo session, is it something that could possible be done then?? I have left all trim out apart from the parcel shelf which i cant get to budge and the trim covering surrounding the exit whole for the seat belt but im sure its second nature to you guys.

Failing that ill book it in to have it looked at, at a more convenient time.

A spot weld that had come loose just above the wheel arch, probably due to excessive strain but Roger managed to locate and weld and not hear a peep since. Thank god
