Been reading a bit on LS1 (can't post there mind) about 18" drag radials. Anyone know a UK outlet which can recomend 18" tires suitable for drag racing which are ok to drive to the track?

You should be able to get toyo R888's in that size which are road legal.
Otherwise try searching for mikey thompson, I found a few around, but in 19" the toyo's were the only option.

Looking to move to 19" next year as 20" tires are limited (and expensive) but in the mean time I was thinking of putting 18" on the rear and running some track bias drag rubber for those sunny days at the pod.

If you're going to have a separate set of rims purely for the strip stick with MT Street Radials:
P245/40R18 26 X 9.50 R18 you can get them for around $220 usd each, a set will last you longer than a season. well worth it for some decent times.

I have some racing slicks in 18" zero thread, but they are designed that way
235x40x18 equiv. Going cheap if anyone wants them.

really...for drag racing, the last thing you want to do is increase the diameter, and reduce the sidewall.

As stated....DR's are not road legal in the UK.

Ive never tried DR's and 888's back to back at a drag strip.

I have tried them at Elvington though. And I was very surprised to run virtually identical times with both tyres. 888's are very good, and fully road legal.

The only stickyish track I ever tried 888's was in Denmark, but I did struggle with grip..It felt the same as Elvington TBH.
I then switched to ET Streets. The ET streets offered a LOT more grip on that surface.
Ive never tried them at Elvington though.

On a road surface. The difference on mine between normal road tyres and 888's was easy loss of traction even around 150....to pretty good traction above 100 on a decent road surface.

And even better than that....they seem to be lasting the miles pretty good. Just dont get caught in rain/standing water. They are not wet tyres by any means.

They wont fit my car anymore, they are for Monaro/VT-VZ etc, hence for sale. £80 the pair. Pirelli's D somethings. 18" rim. They have been in my roof for the last 12 months. I think they were used once on a track. I can sling them in the boot if anyone wants to check them out at the ace in Jan

Like Stevie says Oz blokes run V6 rear brakes so they can fit 15" or 16" rims with big sidewalls. Not sure how many will go down that track... Jez?

If you could drop to 17's, MT do some 275/40x17 DR's

18's will fit over rears easily and fronts with a couple of thou to spare.

The standard VT/VX SS rear brakes will accomodate a 15" rim. That's why I kept mine that way.
