Since the roads around here have been covererd in salt for the past month, I have been washing the underside of the car with a low pressure hose,(once a week) Does anybody else bother or am I just....out to lunch?
I checked my battery the other day and noticed the inspection glass is showing up black, it hasn't been green for some time (which indicates a full charge) I have charged the battery up but it didn't make any difference. The car still starts but will it last? I called in to my local dealer to price a new battery... guess what, they do not supply a battery for the Monaro!!!! not listed.. no can do...is it me? or ..every dam time I ask for parts or service items...

I wouldn't worry about it and wait until it actually fails. I suspect the indicator is float/hydrometer gadget and so only partially indicates the health of the battery. I've certainly come across batteries where it is green but the battery is definitely no good and vice versa. My experience of car batteries they vary allot in quality. An Avon I bought for mk MK2 Granada only lasted 18 months, a replacement under warrantee then lasted 10 years.

I have pressure washed the underneath of my last two cars (Senator and an Omega - sorry not VXR8/Ro) and had no rust indications including in the poor rear arch areas. I usea 'goose neck' attachment on the end of the pressure lance. I do this about every couple of months (weather and my inclination permitting).

Through Autobahnstormers you can get a Vauxhall Trade Club card - will offer good prices on batteries - they did claim to be able to source a battery for any vehicle.
