Managed to source a monaro vxr 2006/56 with wortec setup 446 bhp , switchable exhaust, remap , ripshifter etc. I owned a monaro once before a 2004 cv8, i sent it to vauxhall to have the noise that appears when the car is idling investigated. (it can only be descibed as a mild thuding noise), the rev counter does not fluctuate though. Vauxhall stripped the top end and fitted new valves but this did not solve the noise. Then the vauxhall tech guy the told me it was meant to do this. ( so why spend 2k trying to repair something that is normal?) ANYWAY, the 6l vxr with the wortec pack did the same thing with me today, can anyone relate to this, is it normal ?
The car has 13k miles on the clock , i thin it will need a new clutch soon the bite point it very high , has anyone any idea of a cost for this

Thanks

Ross

Well all that you describe for that car sounds normal, I have a Wortec set up and yes that thudding noise is there, it is a combination of the remap and the exhaust and on cold there should be a nice little rocking motion, and when you switch off it should sound like a load of old chain rattling around in a metal bucket!

As for the clutch well there is a lot of movement on the pedal between out and in. I think the best thing for you to do is to try another.

Good luck thumbup

Oh just one thing what happend about the Mini Cooper??? We are talking chalk from cheese here.

Okay, that actually did make me chuckle. That's the best description of that sound I've heard yet. Took me a while to accept that as normal

a thudding noise wouldnt be valves I'd think more big end than valves

Wouldn't worry too much about the clutch. Mine has a high bite point too (similar mileage)

Standard clutch is approx £600 and a bit cheaper from Monkfish etc. I changed mine because it juddered. For this you get the whole kit, flywheel, disk and pressure plate. At 23K old one was not very warn (though was warn lopsided explaining the judder). New one bit very near the floor initially but returned to as the old one in a few days.

I think LS7 clutch is even cheaper than that. No point replacing with stock. LS7 is virtually identical in feel too.
A win-win situation for a change.
Probably good for up to 500rwhp or so.
