Hi guys

I've recently been on the look-out for a CV8, and I spotted this for sale at Monkfish:

http://www.monkfishperformance.co.uk/democarforsal...

It has high mileage, but I would imagine that it's been very well maintained (being their demo car), and has some very choice upgrades.

What's this forum's opinion?

Thanks

Probably the most sorted CV8 out there TBH. Miles aint that bad considering the size of the engine but I get your drift with it compared to others... mind you this one has been maintained by one of the best in the business. Doubt you would go wrong having this. Have drive and see what you think as all the suspension has been done I beleive.
Sure Roger will be along to sing its praises soon...when he gets outta bed!

If you do a low annual mileage, then I think that is a very choice car, if you are apt to do high mileage then maybe not.

I don't think that this highly regarded garage would sell you a lemon.

Many CV8 owners on this forum have driven that demo car, myself included (I bought a Focus Pac as a result).

It certainly felt good last time I drove it earlier this year.

Ive thought about this car many times but being honest it's overpriced - it was up for £11,500 for a fair while and didn's sell then either. The market has dropped alot further than £500 in the last 3-6 months.

Lovely car though smile

JamesK, you pre-empted my next question! I thought it was pricey, especially in the current climate. What do you think a fair price would be?

Overpriced? Dream on; with all that kit on the car....
I too have driven the car and it is by far the best handling Monaro I've driven. Despite it's mileage it feels very taught and precise and it's got all the bits you'd ever want to fit to a Monaro, except it doesn't have the blower any more.
I'm gradually turning my own CV8 in to it; just got the Ripshifter, Scangauges and brakes to go....biggrin

Thats exactly the same spec as mine - except mines silver and I have the Harrop diff cover too I've had a go of it whilst at Monkfish - it drives great.

the car is very well sorted, it drives very well but it has had some use. Aircon wasnt working etc. Buying the car you would save a fortune on mods but you'd have to spend a few quid on the other bits

eta whilst it handled fanastic I found the ride a little too hard for daily use

You can always haggle! One thing is for sure, that is the best sounding Monaro exhaust system I've heard. It may have done some miles but it's still a good drive and as someone else has intimated, Rogers reputation is too important for him to sell you a duffer. What I recommend is to talk to Roger, he's very approachable, and have a test drive. You won't be disappointed. These guys know what they are doing.

The kit on the car is awesome - literally everything you'd ever need other than the SC - I am not saying the car is anything other than fantastic but it is overpriced for the miles imho. As you own a CV8 I can see why that's not good news but as a potential buyer I'm afraid it's very real.

I just want to reiterate that the cheapest way to get a highly modded CV8 is to buy the Monkfish demo - but that doesn't make it cheap smile

Anything that is wrong would be fixed prior to sale, though currently that is just the aircon. Yes, its done some miles, but the first 60K was mostly up and down the M4. It doesn't really show its mileage. The mods on it would cost in excess of £7k if you started with a standard car!

As for price - if anyone is interested, talk to me

Where did the scan gauges on this car come from and how much? I would like to utilise my instrument binnacle for an AFR readout but dont want to lose the coolant temp or oil pressure.

We do, but there is a minor flaw in your plan! They dont fit directly into the VZ pod. It has been done though, but i cant say i know exactly what is involved.
