Does the 6.0L supercharged monaro vxr hit 75 mph in first gear ? I was watching a youtube video and 5th gear were reviewing it . Im just curious.

doesn't matter if S/c or not, it's down to diff and gear box ratios. As the "original" CV8 box was changed (enter granadaman please) for lower ratios it would be even harder to hit a max speed in a VXR than a CV8.
So no, it's not true.
Think about 50 mph is your limit in 1st....

Toms review on fifth gear, that you refer to, was of a vxr500, that piece of footage was what finally convinced me to buy a monaro! I couldn't find any vxr 500's for sale at the time so ended up buying a standard black (fastest colour) vxr.

The claim about doing 75 in first gear is, to me, the only thing that let that bit of vid down because there's no way it would do it!

OK the answer! Monaro 500 up to red-line - 1st gear 45MPH, 2nd gear 60MPH, third gear 80MPH. So BS it was!

I realise the VXR and CV8 have different ratio diffs, but I didn't think there would be that much of a difference. My 05 CV8 will do over the ton in third.
