I don't know if anyone can help but...

I stupidly didn't fully deice the screen/wipers yesterday and it looks like something has broken, or jumped out of line, on the drivers wiper arm.

It will only move part screen up but full screen down and there is a slight metallic sound when it tries to move.

Any ideas before I book it in to a garage? If I have to do that will any Vauxhall garage be able to cope or should I only use Monaro specialists?

Happy New Year

Paul

Order for fixing wipers.

1 Dealer if warranty is applicable.

2 Specialist ie Monkfish/Rapid GB if close enough.

3 Friendly local workshop. They would be able to order any parts required.

FWIW I have done this (iced up screen) mullarky to wipers many times and not boken anything. Good luck.

Edit to add, if you're confident have a quick butchers yourself it might just be something in the linkeage has popped off or bent. Can't be too high tec.

The arm should have just spun on the spline.

Remove and refit.

By the sounds of it the motor connections ok so its just the connecting rod to the other side.
As long as there's not much wear on the joint. Like someone else said you just need to snap it back on. you might need a pair of grips to get it back on.

Took the arm off and the hole in arm is smooth - no splines.

The pivot for the arm is also smooth - no splines.

Compared them with working nearside wiper where both have splines - guess I have found the problem!

Trying to find new parts now...

Thanks for suggestions.
