Anyone here used Halfords car ramps for their Ro? Do they fit the bill? Cheers.

Pretty sure they aren't wide enough for the ro's 245's.

i did it once with the aid of bits of wood to get you started up them ,its a bit nerve racking tho and the tyres overhang a little

Cheers chaps. Glad I asked. Think I'll give it a miss and stick to axle stands. Presumably they are OK?

Depends on the Axle stands wink
I use a set of ratchet 3 tonners. Maybe overkill but I know they won't do an impression of a paper cup on me.
There's the obvious warnings to be careful still. Make sure they're seated on something sturdy (sub-frame mount etc) and check them when jacking up (the car can move alot in several directions).
I'm hopefully stating the obvious.

they arent any use, i ended up getting some custom mades from ebay for around 120 notes. Gradual ramp with enough width for ro tyres well worth the money. When I get a chance I will find the link

I cut up some scaffold boards. 3 boards thick screwed together, bottom one about 3 foot in lenth and the ends cut at 45 degrees. Its just high enough to do a oil change, and very easy for the trolley jack

Now that is a good idea, no chance of them collapsing and you can make the gradient as gentle as required so the front doesn't scrape. Simple ones are always the best

Here is the ph thread I started http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?h=0...

Alas I cannot find the ebay sellers details but Andyquantum on that thread should be able to direct you to the guy. I have mine in the garden, no rust and very well built. They just fit 255's on but he can custom make ramps to take wider

If you are using standard car ramps, be careful not to use them on a smooth floor as did. As I was (carefully) rolling off, one slipped away and the ute's back end bounced on it and smashed a rear skirt. furious
