Monaro quick rack
Discussion
I am considering having the quick rack fitted to my car, and although I will arrange a drive in the Monkfish demo car in due course, I would, in the meantime, appreciate any comments from owners that have already have the modified rack on their vehicle.
My car is a 2004 CV8, and already has the Road Response Pack. It doesn't get thrashed, tracked or thrown sideways, but I live in a semi-rural area with plenty of bends, and seem to encounter loads of roundabouts wherever I go, so the prospect of a little more nimbleness (if that's a word) and less arm-twirling is quite appealing.
Thanks,
Richard.

I dont know what the ratio of the quick rack is but i've had one fitted to my 5.7 vxr and its made a big difference. The car is alot more enjoyable to drive especially through the bends and at speed, it's also alot less exercise around town. It makes the steering feel more european instead of American/Australian with 50 turns lock to lock which can be very tricky if the back end does step out.

The reason I asked about the ratio is my CV8 has a HSV steering rack according to the previous owner, which from memory is about 3 to 4 turns lock to lock. I would go outside and check it now to be sure. However it’s at monkfish with a broken gearbox right now.
Unfortunately have never driven a standard CV8 so I have nothing to compare it with.

Just been out and done it , its 2 1/2 turns lock to lock on the quick rack.
Mate, unless we're all wrong, that can't be a quick rack? At 2 1/2 turns, which my standard one is, it's too long winded to catch the back end when its trying to overtake the front at a rate of knots.porrohman said:
My rack was purchased from monkfish as the quickrack that they do and it certainly feels a lot quicker than the rack that was on the car originally. How many turns is yours lock to lock.
Some one will be along shortly to enlighten us soon no doubt?Edited by MyM8V8 on Friday 2nd January 18:54
