Just got my monaro vxr back from 30k service. Now when I lock the car (the vast majority of the time) the alarm toots 5 times?!? (approx!) as if a door is open or something. Anyone any ideas as to what could cause this? Sensor? ... How can I fix it without going back to garage (180 miles away)...

Are the sensors in the bottom of the door, and a kind of tear drop shape?

Cheers!

Defective door lock motor. The lock button will still be up on the affected side. Go lock it manually, cos its not currently locked!

Edit to say, will almost certainly need a new motor to rectify. Quite easy to change though you will need torx screwdriver or similar.

Just checked, locked on both sides. Unarmed the alarm, pressed it twice, no noise this time. Seems to be every now and then.
I can live with it, just a little embarrassing at 23:30 and the alarm goes mental

Could be the switch on the motor, so it would still lock but think it hasn't. Not seen that failure mode. All comes as one part though! Just keep an eye on the buttons to make sure it is really locking.

Cheers... I have just remembered that the interior light was not coming on all the time when opening the passenger door, which could mean the switch is sticking. Could be related?

I know it sounds unlikely but was the battery disconnected during the service. This Happened to mine and the terminal connection wasn't done up tight enough. The alarm hasn't gone off since I did it up FT.

Theres a setting on the start up menu were you can set it so it does this everytime you lock/unlock the car, so I'd say give this a quick check to make sure that a tech aint messed with your settings smile

My thread 'Not that urgent but...' from 26th Dec had almost exactly the same problem but the horn only gives me 3 toots. Roger - the car is booked in for a service in April...do you have a doorlock motor in stock 'cos I think I may need one then?

Looks like the door motor... it is sporadic though and has done it twice since I last posted.

From using other alarms the number of toots is important - for example, on some alarms 3 toots for a door not shut, 4 for boot not shut and 5 for power drain (tricks the car into thinking it's being hotwired).

Guys, is the door lock motor a common vauxhall part i.e. one that is used on Vectra for example?
Part Number?

... yes, it has finally given up working.

My drivers side door lock won't fully unlock on r/c operation. Seem to be jamming halfway. Works fine with the key and manually from the inside. Does it just need a bit of lube or is it on the way out? Anyone any ideas?

Dear All,

passenger side for mine (2k4 CV8) . Unlocked but wouldn't lock. Now only partially unlock.
I know it had already had one motor replaced last June but forget which one,

regards,
Jet

The picture i have of the motor does look very similar to one from an Omega so would definatly try a normal dealer to see if they have one in stock for you to compare, I would guess they stock them as they do fail quite a bit
