alarm .... toots...
Discussion
Just got my monaro vxr back from 30k service. Now when I lock the car (the vast majority of the time) the alarm toots 5 times?!? (approx!) as if a door is open or something. Anyone any ideas as to what could cause this? Sensor? ... How can I fix it without going back to garage (180 miles away)...
Are the sensors in the bottom of the door, and a kind of tear drop shape?
Cheers!

Defective door lock motor. The lock button will still be up on the affected side. Go lock it manually, cos its not currently locked!
Edit to say, will almost certainly need a new motor to rectify. Quite easy to change though you will need torx screwdriver or similar.

Just checked, locked on both sides. Unarmed the alarm, pressed it twice, no noise this time. Seems to be every now and then.
I can live with it, just a little embarrassing at 23:30 and the alarm goes mental

Could be the switch on the motor, so it would still lock but think it hasn't. Not seen that failure mode. All comes as one part though! Just keep an eye on the buttons to make sure it is really locking.

My thread 'Not that urgent but...' from 26th Dec had almost exactly the same problem but the horn only gives me 3 toots. Roger - the car is booked in for a service in April...do you have a doorlock motor in stock 'cos I think I may need one then?Edit to say, will almost certainly need a new motor to rectify. is the door lock motor a common vauxhall part
The picture i have of the motor does look very similar to one from an Omega so would definatly try a normal dealer to see if they have one in stock for you to compare, I would guess they stock them as they do fail quite a bit
