Hi,

Are all Monaro windscreens the same?

I ask as yesterday I had to have my windscreen replaced on my 5.7VXR Monaro due to a big crack appearing, and it doesn't look as though the new one fits quite right.

There are gaps either side at the bottom between the glass and external plastic trim. The rubber strip along the top edge also sits higher than how I remember it with noticable dents where presumably clips or something are underneath. The black borders don't align with the curve of the dash/pillars when looked at from inside. Pics would probably help here so I might put some up later.

So the question I have is whether I have the wrong windscreen or that it was just a bad fitting job?
cheers,
Olly

I had mine replaced a few months ago by Autoglass and was told they are all the same with the excsption that the screens now have a dark green top edge tint instead of dark blue which is no longer available (beats me why manufacturers do this, it simply adds to cost surely?)

Dunno if that helps?

Should be the same. Note the screen needs to be central to the hole it fills when they fit it, if its hard up against the top or they let it move about on the bonding sealant to the bottom then the rubber seal will not fit properly and you will have gaps. Note the rubber trim that goes around the edge is "L shaped underneath and the bottom of the L clips over the edge of the glass so this needs to be fitted while the bonding agent is still soft otherwise when it goes off it cant squeeze the glue out of the way and the seal will not sit right and will be loose! I think yours has been badely fitted by the sounds of it, pictures would help.

Thanks all, they're going to come back and "rectify" it next week. Can't imagine why a Monaro should be any harder than other cars to fit a windscreen, but there you go.

I had a screen fitted on my monaro as it was chipped,it fitted very poorly so i rang them to come back. They fitted a genuine screen and it fitted perfectly, the manufacturer of the first screen they fitted had a faulty batch..
