Driving into Dundee today and the the power steering pump starting sounding very loud so I pulled over and nearly all the oil had vanished. I managed to limp a few more mile to Halfrauds and topped up the tank but the oil was all over the front underside and dripping.
Luckily it held out long enough to get home and I found the cooler pipe where the two pipes rub together had a pin hole leak due to rust, I managed to cut out the bad part and use a couple of clips and some strong rubber hose to repair it but FFS its only two and a half years old. Had oil everywhere and up my arms once id popped off the rubber hoses.
Anyone know a rough price for a new cooler? Hopefully it'll hold out to the 50k service.

We keep these on the shelf for reasons you have now discovered! Think they are about £60 but id need to confirm that. Just drop us an e-mail or give us a call and we can sort one out for you.
So its quite common then?, wasnt too bad to remove from the car once the trim was removed from behind the bumper. I did think the front bumper was gonna have to come off at one stage.
I'm going to get one to keep in the garage and change it out in the better weather or get my normal mech to swap it out.
Might actually make one out of some stainless tubing from work it must be about 10mm diameter.
Cheers
Mike

where you based then Mike - you've mentioned both Aberdeen and Dundee in the last week so I'm guessing your either east coast or work offshore and it was part of the commute?
I live in Blairgowrie but yeah I work offshore from Aberdeen. I dont see many Ro's about here apart from a silver CV8 every now and again.
Oh well nice boring day in Belmont Vauxhall Aberdeen but at least they have ordered the cooler pipe and will fit it under warranty. I asked about the whining PS pump and they said they'll look at that once the coolers on, tried telling them that its just gonna sound the same but no its one thing at a time they said.
Also seen a VXR8 for the 1st time and it looked stunning in the flesh and it was in white too.

Mine went similar last Friday (where the two come through below radiator), unfortunately the pump has thrown in the towel due to lack of fluid. I bypassed the cooler with a hose but as i put the fluid in it started spraying out the front seal of the pump.
Luckily i stopped the engine before it covered to much (flicking from the pulley).
Cooler already in and pump should be in today, no power steering to drive to garage with, that will build my arms up.
First leak from cooler was a 8 months a go, had a stone puncture it (what it looked like anyway) silver solder and a rubber strip with jubilee clip sorted that.
Dont know why they dont use alloy or stainless would save a lot of hassle.
Mines an 04 by the way.
