The cable hook end of the electric opener has broken off

I'm wondering if the boot 'spring up' may be set too high (rubber stops set too low) and caused excessive pressure on the catch, thus stressing the metal hook to failure over time through opening?
I will reset mine when I've replaced the hook (Roger, you have mail) so it only slightly pops up when the boot release is pressed, not open like a catapult!

Worth checking yours?

Mine has done exactly the same a few weeks ago, been on emergency release ever since .Possibly the cold weather has caused it,because my boots was iced shut a few times and required pulling up quite hard after pressing boot release. This would make sense due to the boot not lifting on to the rubber "bump stop" due to the boot being iced shut.hope replacment part is easy to get

A couple of days from the big fish, £36.40 + P&P. Thanks Andy!
