check the wire connections under the seat. had this on previous cars and it turned out to be a dirty connection. best to disconnect the battery first before doing this. last thing you want is a air bag in the face.

I have this problem too, Roger (Monkfish) said that it needs to be re-programmed to turn it off which he hopes to do at the Ace Cafe meet, must try hitting the dash though. Mine came on when not used during the cold snap.

The air bag fault is a latched fault that you can only get rid of with Tec2 or an advanced code reader/programming tool. Roger got rid of mine on my VX1 HSV GTS once I found the fault. A common problem is the connector on the base of the seat for the airbag coming loose.

so if you dis battery, clear fault ( i.e. check/clean wiring under seat) and then reconnect battery, the light is still on even if the fault is now cleared? I have light on my VT2 GTS.

That is correct. As island boy says, its a latched fault.

Can this be reset with two bits of wire connected to the correct diagnostic port connections shorting them to ground one by one in a constant rhythm?

Used to reset the old supras airbag light this way.

Just a thought

Cheers
