I was looking at Castrol's website and I see they reccommend this stuff for the 'Ro. Anyone tried it, comments?

I user Millers 5w-40 ctx fully synth myself - about 30 quid for 5 litres - you'll need 6.5l approx for a 5.7. Quite a few use the Mobile1 stuff as supplied with the car. There have been discussions on here in the past re oil choice - might be worth a search to see what guys like Monkfish and RapidGB recommend. Also take a look at the US LS1/LS2 forums as they'll have a much wider user base and range of exotic oils in use.

Thanks for the reply. I did do an "oil" search, but strangely couldn't really find what I was looking for. I'm sure oil has been done to death, but basically I'm asking what people put in their cars brand/grade? Are they happy with what they've got in? I notice Monkfish use 10w 30, thats a lot thicker than Castrol's recommended 0w 30. So, who's right, does it matter? Will it blow up if I put Miller's XFS 5w 40 in forinstance?

GM Recommended Euro equiv is Mobil1 0-40 Its on the door sills on the UK Spec LS7 Z06's etc

Slightly heavier oil will quieten down the valve train etc, but may lose some power.

MY 05 CV8 uses standard GM 5-30 synthetic, in fact it has 15,000 miles on the clock and had three oil changes not including the factory stuff! Hell no the wonder i'm broke.. As I changed the dif and gearbox oil with Royal Purple ( from Monkfish ) I will use that brand from now on, only this time one oil change a year.
( I will cover less than 8000 miles this year..I think)
