VXR8 Bathurst Edition
Discussion
Seems like Walkinshaw's is competing with Wortec's Carbon Edition.
"Vauxhall is pleased to announce the launch of the stunning VXR8 Bathurst
Edition.
Harnessing the expertise of the Holden Race Team and the HSV race
engineers, the VXR8 Bathurst Edition has been specifically developed to
bring this unique driving experience to the road.
Standard equipment includes fully adjustable Walkinshaw Performance
coil-over Suspension, allowing you to personalise ride settings to suit
your individual needs. We've also added a Performance Brake upgrade to the
specification, fitting giant 6-piston front calipers and 4-piston rear
calipers. It gives you a suspension and brake combination that puts you
behind the wheel with technology that comes straight from the track, but
specifically designed to deliver the ultimate performance on the road.
Priced at £37,995 on the road, each individually numbered VXR8 Bathurst
Edition comes with unique exterior decals and stripes, Walkinshaw
Performance Sill plates and fog light covers. The VXR8 Bathurst Edition
comes with the same 431PS, 6.2Litre V8 engine as the standard VXR8, but
with the addition of the optional Walkinshaw Performance Supercharger you
can transform the Bathurst Edition into the 572PS VXR8 Bathurst S making
it the most powerful Vauxhall ever.
SPECIFICATION / OPTIONS
In addition to the standard VXR8, Bathurst Edition models are fitted with
the following equipment:
* Walkinshaw Performance Fully Adjustable Coilover suspension system
* Walkinshaw Performance 6 piston front and 4 piston rearing braking
system.
* Unique exterior decals and stripes
* Individually numbered Bathurst identifier plaque
* Unique alloy-effect door sill covers

Please note the total retail price for the above items is £4,490 included
in the VXR8 Bathurst Edition for just £2755."

With a field full of unsold VXR8`s I think they are a little optimistic with their pricing.
Noone over here will pay MORE for something thay have no idea about.
I`d buy a stock car from a grateful dealer and put the goodies on ...save loads of cash and not have a load of tat on the paintwork.
Greens(rip) got it right with the VXR500.

Must admit, I'm contemplating further engine mods to my Carbon, which would include importing an LS3 crate engine as base for forged internals etc.
Thought I'd give Picador a call to see if there were any deals on LS3 based VXR8s. Would have expected something in todays climate. They said there is no special deal from them, or vauxhall on the price or finance. Might be lucky to get a couple grand off list price, but thats about it and finance would be similar rate I'm paying now for my used Carbon.
Told them they just made my mind up then on car swap as an option...
I dont see the point of spending ~£38K for a bathurst when the important things like alloys and exhaust (though I prefer the Wortec one) are on top of that and buying the S for the supercharger is more again for less power than Wortec's.
I know we're talking less money, but the last 2 ZX10Rs I've bought have included manufacturer funded 3 year 0% finance to tempt you to buy new. This is on top of any discounts on price you negotiate from the dealer.
I'd really expect this to be happening in the car space, but maybe they'll just wait until they need government funding (i.e. tax payers money) to bail them out...

Yeah I know what you're saying, its just I could go forged in my current LS2, Rog reckons ~700BHP or forged LS3 for ~800BHP. Only complication is going LS3 'may' reach the upper limit of the amount of air the 122 SC can push...I dont fancy the expense of the HTV2300 just yet!
If Wortec had ~635BHP from this Carbon, 700BHP staying with the LS2 isnt a huge jump, so its just deciding how much and for what gain.
I'm off to see Roger next week to discuss in some detail so I can figure out cost of options properly
Need second income now...must send herself out to work....;)

He is talking stock. Stock LS2 vs Stock LS3 displacement is only 3.5% different, so thats not where the power comes.
Heads are definately better though. IIRC 25% more airflow (260cfm vs 330cfm) there is your answer for power delta.
Heads and/or cam on LS2 would eliminate most/all of the difference.
As is usual pick your bhp requirements and work back from there.

Am I?
You would have to be Roger otherwise like for like how does 3.5% more displacement add up to 100 more bhp?
(ie) Im saying forged LS2 heads and cam vs forged ls3 heads and cam cannot be 100bhp different.
I never said it did? Not going to get 800 out of any stock engine. You dont know what i have planned

ha ha hey cumon guys, I didnt mean to start an argument about LS2/LS3 and what BHP each will do forged or not!!
anyway, I think we have too many acronyms in IT, but IIRC, cfm...what are you lot like...I went glassy eyed after about 2 seconds!! The figures I mentioned were mega rough and ready. I'll see what Roger comes up with next week for my LS2/3 options. I just hope I can afford it
All I want is to be able to beat my bike mates from 60MPH onwards and hopefully beat them up the strip (~10-11s)
but if I cant afford that then I want to have a plan b because the power is never enough

Hey, im cool. I'll see you next week to discuss how to go really fast

Yeah, honest debate and discussion is good for sure and I'm learning along the way! Saying that though, I'm certainly not going to question Roger's experience in delivering some bl
dy fast cars!
As Chris (donk vxr) says, grip will be a (fun) issue to deal with! Its bad enough with current BHP + 285/30/20s + slightly damp roads = 3rd gear wheelspin on half throttle as it is
Going back to the Bathurst for a moment, cant believe Walkinshaw has beaten Wortec to the release of a white supercharged LS3! Lets hope the Wortec boys make it worth the wait

Yeah 20`s are good for a pose but you`ll never get serious PD power down unless you run underinflated 19`s (At the strip)

(And in the summer you`ll struggle to get serious PD power...full stop) (again..at the strip)
